How do you think this pairing would work out?

I believe it could be just like the Shaq/Kobe pairing. It's a possibility that it could Be even worser than the Shaq/Kobe pairing. Neither one of then would probably be willing to be robin just even for one season.

What does everyone else think?

It would play out something like that I reckon.

I don’t think Shaq would have a problem being Robin to a prime Jordan. Shaq has always respected and admitted MJ is the GOAT.

Jordan is the ultimate alpha. Shaq would have to fall in line. Don't see it working for more than a season.

i see this point. shaq and kobe couldn't make it work. but the dynamic would be different in some key ways.

1. jordan is older and had already been a champion and considered the best player in the game by the time shaq was drafted. kobe was a young player coming into his own and asserting himself.

2. jordan already had full control of that team to the point that his reach extended to other teams' personnel decisions (cough knicks).

3. the structure was set and shaq would have come into a triangle offense that was already a well oiled machine. i mean... if this team still has scottie handling the ball and facilitating too... flawless. they'd have been completely indefensible AND the best defensive team in the league. only injury or boredom could stop that group.

I'm sure Shaq would fall in line for MJ and would still get his. MJ would have more years on him anyways, so I can't imagine there being too much problems. They'd be 10x better than Shaq and Kobe was, and if Pippen is there as well there'd be very little chance for any other team to beat them. Even more so if they have either Rodman or Horry at the 4. The point guard could be anyone because both MJ and Shaq can spread the floor well within the triangle.

shaq would be more serious and play better possibly because he would be the little brother looking up to mj instead of him being the big brother to kobe (not that kobe looked up to shaq)

It would work, but the question is how long.

Shaq went to the Finals with Penny.
He won titles with Kobe.
He won with Wade.

Obviously, Jordan is better than those three and anything Shaq did with them he could do with Jordan and then some. The question is just how long it lasts, it would have had potential to be an all time great dynasty though.

You mean both in their prime?

Kinda depends at which point they're together.

Shaq first paire with Kobe while Kobe was a teenager, so Shaq always looked at him as a younger brother. Whereas if Shaq joined Jordan while he was already the star of the NBA, Shaq would probably have a different type of chemistry.
