Re: Precious Achiuwa
Calling Chriss a 5 is kind of pointless when it was for GS. It’s not like they had much of a choice. GSW plays Looney at the 5 and I don’t think anyone calls Looney a center on any other team except maybe the Rockets. So there’s two teams that routinely use undersized centers. The rest of the league, to my knowledge, doesn’t do that unless there are extenuating circumstances.

Looney is def a Center and Kerr doesn't really use undersized Centers that much really, he is pretty much anti that unless he has too

Only because GSW played him there out of necessity for their small ball lineups. He doesn’t even play that much.
I guess Covington is a 5 now, too.
Majority of teams don’t have the luxury of a Harden or Curry to make that workable.

Looney is a 5 man. If you are playing Precious at the 4 and he is not shooting, your team is going to be awful. Unless like I said he happens to be playing with a guy like Jokic or Towns, I guess. Even then, it's probably not a great idea.

Achiuwa is not 2-3" taller than Grant... Grant is 6'8-6'9. Achiuwa is 6'9. It's well-documented.
Not unless he grew after entering the league. At the 2014 NBA Draft Combine, Grant measured 6' 6.5'' barefoot and 6' 7.75'' in shoes.
https://stats.nba.com/draft/combine-anthro/?SeasonYear=2014-15
and Achiuwa isn't 6-9, either.
what is the point of this exactly?

you still didn't explain why Chriss is a better comp for Precious than Grant.
For one thing if you go back and look at their college stats, Precious is much closer to Chriss than Grant. Athletically I think Precious and Chriss are probably a tier below Grant. Regardless, whether the comp is Grant or Chriss, all of them are basically small 5s to me. Chriss is actually the best passer and Precious is probably better than Grant in that respect too. You really couldn't have Grant playing the 4 with Steven Adams. And you couldn't have Precious doing that either.
Edit: Grant has been shooting the last two years so now it makes more sense he’s a 4 and even less sense to compare Precious to him.
this doesn't make any sense lmao
your entire point is basically built around the fact that he 'can't shoot'. so you see a 6-9 dude that 'can't shoot' and automatically assume he should be plugged in at the 5.
so you'd rather have an undersized C that can't shoot instead?
and at the same age Precious showed way more propensity to shoot than Grant, Grant didn't even take 3s in college at all, Achiuwa actually takes them and makes them, so your entire point that 'Grant finally developed an ability to shoot' isn't even applicable here since Achiuwa is an infinitely better shooter at the same age than Grant
and, again, Precious' best abilities are to run the court and to guard combo-forwards, you put him at the 5 because He CaNt ShOoT and you're taking away his best attribute.
and 'he's a small ball 5' doesn't mean anything, yea, he can play the 5 when the match up calls for it, doesn't mean he's a 5. he's a combo-forward that can slide up a position if needs be, that's it. you're just trying to get cute with it.

Re: Precious Achiuwa
heck, even Adebayo plays over 60% of his possessions at the 4 and dude takes no 3s
this whole idea that you decide whether someone should be a 4 or a 5 strictly on if they can shoot 3s is nonsensical. if Precious can't shoot 3s in what world does that make him more valuable at the 5? great, now you have a 5 that's both undersized AND can't shoot 3s.

Re: Precious Achiuwa
you can even throw Draymond in as a comp without the playmaking, majority possessions at the 4, and Draymond is a TERRIBLE shooter.

Dude, you are so bad at this.
So Precious is Draymond without the playmaking and without the defense...you know what I call that? Unemployed. It's definitely not a starting PF on a 3-time champion.
Precious is a 5 because he is not skilled enough on offense to be a 4 and he is not quick enough or a good enough perimeter defender to be a 4. He's a 5 plain and simple. I don't know how you're still going on about this.

i'm bad at this? says the guy who wants to turn Precious into a 5 because 'he doesn't shoot' so he gets not only an undersized C but an understized C that doesn't rim protect or shoot...you have are in no position to call anyone else 'bad at this' with your trash tier record
and I'm going on about this because you think your opinion is more valuable than other people's, laughing it off 'Achiuwa is a 5 lol' as if other peoples thoughts are laughable to you...f outta here with that garbage.
what's laughable is your remedial derp analysis that Achiuwa is a 5 because he 'can't shoot', and now you're weaseling out of it because you got called out on it.

How am I weaseling out of it? That's exactly what I believe. He can't shoot and he can't pass. He's an ok finisher and an ok rim protector. Honestly, I'm not sure why you like him much. For me he's probably not a plus player at either position, so it's not even worth the time we're wasting on him. If he were actually really good like Bam or Draymond he could probably play either position.

he really good at one thing: defending combo forwards at the 2nd and 3rd levels...you want him on the floor to cover the opposing teams swingmen or stretch forwards...that should be his #1 job
what you want to do is change his job from that to be your paint/rim protector when he has exhibited very little ability to be a viable rim protector just because he can't shoot. it doesn't make any sense on any level.
if guys like Grant, Bam, Dray, and I can go on and on and on are getting the majority of their minutes at the 4, that's where Precious will get is. period.

Then he'll probably be out of the league pretty quickly. Got it.
(Or he'll be a 5 like Chriss)

Re: Precious Achiuwa
I really don't see any way Precious plays majoritily at the 5 position if he is not playing with a 4 that covers the role of a "5" on defense.
On offense he needs to play alongside a 4/5 that can shot a little bit or otherwise your offense will be horrendous.

Robert Horry is better than MJ, because everybody knows that 7>6.

I think the only way he ends up a 5 is if Houston wants him as Capela 2.0

That’s some kind of hope. Achiuwa will never be Harrell.
