Oh, I don't know, how about because their father is a ridiculous loudmouth master-of-ceremonies hype machine and his kids are his performers? It may not be their fault, but the end result is the same.

This is pretty stupid logic. Their dad's a clown so they're clowns? Would it have really been that hard to admit you misspoke based on your strong feelings against Lavar? With that logic I guess that makes me a truck driver since my dad is, despite the fact I've never been in an 18 wheeler.

Whoever drafts Ball will be bitching about his shooting for years, talking how he still has "upside" 5 years into his career.

His free throw percentage projects him to be a good shooter, his problem isn't that he is a terrible shooter, his problem is selection which can be worked out. I think even if he never turns into a great shooter, he will be able to be a good finisher once his body matures, and he really looks like he's going to be an elite level passer, so a tall pass-first PG I think would be good enough.

Even aside from his jumper, he's still a ways from being the next Ason Kidd or Raon Rondo.

I've been watching a bit of film and really coming around to Killian Hayes. He has holes in his game like any prospect sure, but at 18 years old he has a lot of time before he's a finished product. I think playing with Rose mentoring him next season could do wonders for him, And the French connection with Sekou should help both of them as they adapt to life in the US.

The best part or safest part of the draft feels like almost late lottery to early 20s.

My Big Board at the moment

1. Anthony Edwards (inconsistent but shows his star upside when he does go off)
2. Lamelo Ball (still 6'7 with elite passing)
3. Isaac Okoro
4. Killian Hayes
5. Onyeka Okongwu
6. James Wiseman
7. RJ Hampton
8. Obi Toppin
9. Tyrese Haliburton
10. Saddiq Bey
11. Devin Vassell
12. Cole Anthony
13. Tyrese Maxey
14. Deni Avdija
15. Tyler Bey

Actually that's pretty strong logic when applied to the context of the offspring pursuing a similar career path as the parent.

Didn't know Lavar had an NBA career. Maybe he actually CAN beat Jordan. Cool story bro.

Lavar played basketball and football in high school and college and tried to make a career as a pro football player, but never made it past an NFL practice squad.

I don't know what your definition of "similar" is, but I'd call a career path of pro athlete in any sport as being similar to any other pro athlete in any other sport. It's not like Lavar is a plumber.

And regardless of the careers, to say that because Dad's a clown doesn't mean the kids are clowns is still a GENERALLY weak argument. The saying "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree" wasn't invented out of thin air, and the point of it--and this context--is CHARACTER, not specific job choice. The fact that the kids actually pursuing careers in pro sports lends more weight to the argument.

I actually like Lavar a lot and think he’d be great for the city of Detroit. That said I just don’t believe in Lamelo and his game.

If you've got a hard-on for the success of the Ball family, have at it. Some of us don't want balls in our mouth.

Even Lonzo is taking his sweet, sweet time to barely be a consistent starter in this league. Whoever drafts LaMelo is looking at 5 years into the future and even then, I'm not even sure the dividends are all that great. I guess if we do draft him, we can hype him up for 3 years and sell high?

This draft is meh.

I don't see Hayes as a star PG in this league, but maybe a good backup like Lindsey Hunter once was.
He has to put on muscle and work on his right hand to make me wrong.

Lindsey started for us for several teal years (though Grant Hill was effectively the PG for much of that).

Yes, I wanted to say starter of a winning team: when Lindsey was starter, Pistons didn't pass a Playoff round.

That's why I said "teal years", as distinct from really winning. ;)

Crazy that the NBA draft lottery is scheduled 3 weeks from today still and we haven't officially canceled the regular season. Do you think they'll postpone the lottery? Seems like they would need to make a decision real soon.

Think in the next week or so we'll be hearing a lot more about when, how and where the league will begin again.

Think the RS might be over though.

Maybe they some kind of play off for the West 8th seed and then just move into playoff mode

Hello everybody,

Tool: https://nbadraftcomp.herokuapp.com

I recently developed an NBA Draft Comparison tool that has gained a good amount of popularity on Twitter by several draft analysts

The tool retrieves similar physical, statistical (per40), and advanced stat comparisons for any player dating back to the 2000 NBA Draft based on their position

Note: Advanced stats only go back to the 2011 Draft and there are currently only limited physical comparisons for some of the 2020 prospects as the combine hasn't reported official measurements. Additionally, if you cannot find a player in the stats, visuals, or advanced pages you can enter their sports-reference url and the site will generate the comparisons then.

If you end up seeing this, any feedback/comments/suggestions that you have or would like me to add a feature to the website is something that I'd appreciate a whole lot. You can dm me here but preferable on twitter:youngwizzydfs and I will respond asap.

The experience is a lot better on desktop/laptop than mobile which is something I am working on right now

If you don't mind sharing the tool with your friends and people that would mean a whole lot as it could lead to potential donations to my site that will help keep it up! Been working on this for a few years now so it's been one hell of a roller coaster ride!

Per 40 stat comparison can be found here: https://nbadraftcomp.herokuapp.com/stats

If you want Sekou as your future franchise player, make a deal with Knicks for Ntilikina ^^

Ok Hayes would be a good pick, but I would see more Malédon to make Sekou an all-star in 2 or 3 years.
Frank Ntilikina is a play-off player, but he goes to the Hornets.

Paris 2024 (Starters):
Ntilikina - Malédon - Hayes
Coulibaly - De Colo
TLC - Rupert or Risacher
Wembanyama- Yabusele
Embiid- Poirier - Lessort [without Embiid: Fall]

Return to Detroit Pistons
