I heard next year, the top salaries on the team would be Jimmy, Alexander and Ford.

That is why they're trying to move them.

More than likely they will have to just cut Alexander after this year.

Niners didn't load up for another SB run. They need to either trade or cut the following people:

Jimmy G, McGlinchey, Kwon, Richburg, Goodwin, Sherman... and cut Mike Person a second time for good measure. And then hire him as a front-office guy, just so they can fire him the next day.

If they can get a 3rd or 4th, maybe they can still draft my guy Willie Gay Jr., LB from Miss. State.

Oh, so Lynch is doing almost everything I told him to do last season (trading for Trent Williams, cutting Person). Good boy, John. A little late, but late is better than never.

#3 next year is tough.

So is #5 in a way, since two rookie deals are probably earning less than what Williams is making.

But they must think they're in the window.

If he leaves next season, most likely we will get a 3rd round comp. No way we sign more than lose. Also, with Coronavirus, next year's draft is really unknown right now

If the Niners can somehow sign a good CB and Brunskill is ready to be decent at RG, Niners would be better than last year. Easily.

Williams > 2019 Staley

Brunskill >>>>>>>> Person at any point in history including before Brunskill was born

A good CB > Witherspoon

A good CB is a must. Adding a guard would be even better. Ideally, I'd want a pass rusher as depth as well (Clay Matthews maybe?).

At this point I don't see there being a CB available that would be considered good.

Shame with Witherspoon because he clearly is capable of being a good CB but just seems like he blows it, loses confidence, and can't shake it off and just keeps messing up.

I'd say the hope needs to be the offense is even better this upcoming season than last to makeup for a defense that's probably not going to be quite as good as last year.

The offense being better seems like a real possibility because on paper the offensive line should be better, Jimmy G with a full season starting under his belt should hopefully be better, and when you count the guys that didn't play last season there is going to be a lot of potential weapons on the offense especially compared to last season.

I remember people saying he was going to be a bust because he was the OL that got Bradford injured

That was dumb logic, but regardless of that, I have to admit I severely underestimated him. Never thought he'd be a perennial pro bowler.

Acy is the only CB we got out of this draft. While he wasn't invited to the Combine, he was a 200-meter championship qualifier in high school so he clearly has good speed for a corner. And at 6-1, 195 he has good size for a corner. He will have to show in training camp, if there is a training camp, whether the coaches believe he is actually good or not.

Acy reminds me of Marcus Cooper.

Aiyuk pick hurt us. We should have traded back and get Trevon Diggs, or Laviska Shenault.

TRENT WILLIAMS
T, SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said the team won't immediately begin extension talks with newly-acquired LT Trent Williams.

“Trent has been out of football for a year and a half, and Trent made it clear to everyone he wants to come back and didn’t want to do a deal right away,” coach Kyle Shanahan said, framing the slow start in talks as Williams' wish. “He wanted to play and try to get back into it and see where he was at with the rest of the league and pick up where he left off." In a way it makes sense, but the if the 49ers were ready to pay Williams, he would not decline. It remains possible, if not probable, that Williams gets extended before Week 1 after the Niners can finally see him in person and gauge where he is at after missing so much time. Williams is due $12.5 million in the final year of his contract.

They'd have to sign him, extend Kittle.

Witherspoon is a pre med student. Had a 4.4 GPA in high school. LOL, I think he is too smart to play the position. He was playing fine until his injury. Once he starts to struggle a bit he loses confidence. I think he is probably overthinking things at that point. I've heard it said to be a good corner you have to be able to shake off a bad play. Sometimes it is better to be one of those cocky lunkheads that just goes out there and plays and forgets the bad plays.

In one of the games they mentioned an acronym. I forget what it is but it's to label a player who doesn't react to the ball. Something like not active player or something like that.

The idea is, the CB is in position to make a play on the ball but doesn't react to it, whether because they freeze up or for some other reason.

So teams were throwing the ball when Witherspoon was right on his man but only the WR was reacting to the ball.

Niners could use another DE by the way. Keep Ford's snaps low, and bring him in on passing situations. I like Blair, but I don't see any reason not to sign a bunch of players to make a SB run.

Niners need to sign
