I've just finished watching, for the second time in a decade, "The IT Crowd." I'm kind of weird in terms of what makes me laugh, and this series hits the nail right on the head for me. The first 2-3 episodes are below par, and the same goes for the last 2-3 episodes, but everything in between is hilarious. If you are weird, you'll love this one.

This is how the 1964 Beatles would've sounded in 1994.

I don't think even she can believe the reaction this record is getting. It's her most experimental I think, but the lyrics can easily resonate with a lot of people.

The level of artistry of what she does is off the scale. And it's not just the music or the lyrics - her interpretations are full of passion. She doesn't just sing - she LIVES the lyrics and pours her heart out. Look at this one - you need to watch the video, not just listen to it:

Watched Chris D'Elia's new netflix special. Solid.

Code 8 movie was pretty meh

Started watching HBO's West World which has been good so far. One of those shows where the storylines build slowly. Only a few episodes in. I've heard good things.

Listened to this podcast about MK Ultra, Charlie Manson, Jolly West and more. I had never dove into the Manson stuff. This was pretty fascinating. The guest Tom O'Neil says the book Helter Skelter has a lot of inaccuracies in it. He talks about Vince Bugliosi being a pretty **** person.

Listened to the method man album 4:21 the day after for the first time today. That was fantastic

his recent "Chaos" book is a little uneven, but fascinating. he raises some great questions, especially about Bugliosi.
The best Manson book remains The Family, by Ed Sanders. but you got to find the original hardback edition, because some Satanists managed to scare the american publisher into pulling a lot of material out of the later, soft covers.

I'm usually a fan of historical fiction but I never got into The Plot Against America. Much preferred The Man in the High Castle.

After Life season 2 comes out today. New season of The Last Kingdom on Sunday!

Agreed on all counts. I got through the pilot episode of The Plot Against America and it was so slow and I still for the life of me couldn't tell you what it was even about. The Man in the High Castle was just genius television. Running through The Last Kingdom all the way from the first season again right now to get ready.

I just listened to a podcast episode some of you might enjoy from Malcolm Gladwell's Revisionist History podcast called, "The Big Man Can't Shoot" which talks about Wilt Chamberlain stopping taking underhanded foul shots even though he made them at a much higher rate. The episode isn't about basketball as much as an examination of why we make bad choices but he talks with Rick Barry quite a bit and like anything Malcolm Gladwell puts out it's fascinating.

Not your regular church programming. Ideal to view in the dark on a large screen. Filmed in 360 degrees, so you'll need a mouse, mouse pad or similar to operate. Anaglyph 3D option available. Enjoy!

exculp already mentioned it in the other thread, but After Life (both seasons) is everything! Personal all-time favorite. Ricky Gervais just has a way of yanking at your heartstrings. Did it with Derek too.

Anyone watch "The Midnight Gospel" yet? I loved it. Here's some write ups from the web

Forbes:

https://www.forbes.com/sites/danidiplacido/2020/04/25/netflixs-the-midnight-gospel-is-mind-expandingonce-you-get-past-the-first-few-episodes/#54de6f42702e

When it comes to niche adult animation, Netflix has a pretty good track record, greenlighting concepts that likely wouldn’t find a home elsewhere (although, I’m still salty over Tuca and Bertie’s premature cancellation).

The latest, and strangest, animation experiment comes from the mind of Pendleton Ward (creator of Adventure Time), who has partnered with podcaster/comedian Duncan Trussell to create The Midnight Gospel, a surreal series which follows an interdimensional traveller seeking new experiences to record “spacecasts” - the show is best described as Rick and Morty meets The Joe Rogan Experience.

Audio clips from Trussell’s podcast, The Duncan Trussell Family Hour, are brought to life with beautiful, mind-bending visuals, as the protagonist, Clancy (played by Trussel), explores the depths of his universe simulator, uncovering new philosophies and perspectives, while completely neglecting his personal life.

Indie Wire:

https://www.indiewire.com/2020/04/the-midnight-gospel-review-1202224481/

The small miracle of “Adventure Time” in its earliest season came from creator Pendleton Ward’s ability to juggle ingredients that shouldn’t work so well together. The show was silly and profound in equal measures, treating that balance as the ultimate yin and yang. “The Midnight Gospel” brings that same notion to ambitious new heights, shedding the pretense of a “children’s show” that sometimes hindered the reach of “Adventure Time” and chases big ideas right out of the gate. It’s mind-blowing in the best possible way.

On some level, “The Midnight Gospel” has a much simpler premise than “Adventure Time”: Ward and co-creator Duncan Trussell have joined forces to animate select conversation from the comedian’s soul-searching and occasionally boisterous podcast, “The Duncan Trussell Family Hour,” where he interviews a range of characters about their life philosophies and usually their meditation practices. At the same time, the pair have designed a beguiling fictional backdrop, with Trussell voicing a loudmouthed pink-skinned loaf named Clancy who inhabits an eye-popping intergalactic backdrop and owns an unlicensed Universe Simulator, a kind of advanced virtual reality machine that allows him to travel to imaginary worlds and interact with the various intelligent life forms he finds there. If that sounds confusing, just wait: “The Midnight Gospel” relishes the opportunity to catch you off-guard, and clarify its purpose as it moves along.
