I want to get rid of Harris off the basis of purging a bad asset. I don't think his fit is in question. He fits fine. He'll fit even better once Brown is fired.

Sounds like you're talking about Ben Simmons.
Nope. I'm actually talking about Tobias Harris.

With Eversley in Chicago, is there a chance they start listening to offers for LaVine? Or do you think they decide to build around LaVine?

Yeah, that would be pretty ideal in terms of trades. Guard defense would be problematic, but you'd have enough on the back end to cover for them (and could have Simmons take on the toughest perimeter matchup), which tends to be a greater indicator for defensive success.
I'd skip using an exemption to retain Burks in favor of some front court help though. Paying Horford all that money to be Embiid's backup wasn't a wise use of resources, but I wouldn't want to completely ignore it either.

Does anyone think GSW is going to depart with Draymond Green? Not that we are in the market for him, but I do think we could sneak into a 3 team trade that sends Horford to the GSW. Gives them a stretch center who likes to fit into the offense rather than be a focus.
Could see a someone like Chicago who wants to add some sort of identity with their younger team making a move for him.

Dream scenario. The Sac deal isn't all that farfetched, but I can't see Portland swapping CJ for Tobias unless we attach a first or someone like Thybulle.SparksFly87 wrote:Perfect offseason to me is

Right now, we're a top 10 defense and a middle of the pack offense.
With this roster, I think we become a top 10 offense and middle of the pack defense.
So I don't think we'd strike a balance, we'd just flip our deficiencies to the other side of the court.

We have to find a way to add a closer while maintaining a core group of defenders.

Re: Fantasy Trade Thread 2019-2020 Post Season
I wonder how much better this team would be if you just could manage to flip Horford (and assets) in a deal for Hield. It would be nice to have someone with more off the dribble game, but it would open up the offense with all the JJ plays for the team again, and he can at least do some on ball stuff (compared to JJ). Leaning on Tobias and Joel for iso situations isn't ideal, but I don't know that it's backbreaking either.

Does Minnesota make sense as a landing spot for Horford (via a 3 way)? Not sure if they'd have enough cap space to make a James Johnson (expiring) swap work while keeping the cap holds of Beasley and Hermangomez.
Seems like he'd be a solid 3rd guy to go with Towns, Russell and a bunch of young guys if they want to make the playoffs.

Personally, I don't see it. Horford is weak defending Fs and there's no way Towns would be able to.
I think whatever team would want Horford would need to have a frontcourt player than can defend Fs so Horford can play C.
Warriors (Green guarding Fs)
Lakers (Davis guarding Fs)
Bucks (Giannis guarding Fs)
Raptors (Siakam guarding Fs)
Grizzlies (Jackson Jr. guarding Fs)
Pelicans (Williamson guarding Fs)

Definitely not perfect. I think Towns is a defensive liability wherever you put him, so you could just have Horford take the tougher front court assignment. Our defense has been much better with at the 4, though obviously that has a lot more to do with Embiid being on the floor rather than Horford being a good fit there.

Now that the Knicks are eyeing Chris Paul, the cost of acquisition is going to be too high for us to entertain.

Still unclear whether New Orleans has Jrue Holiday in their long term plans. With Lonzo and Ingram both making strides along with last year's draft haul I could see them eventually opting to clear Jrue's salary and position themselves to be players in free agency.
Taking on Harris or Horford makes no sense for them, but I wonder if they'd entertain something like Richardson, Thybulle, Zhaire, Mike Scott, future 1st for Holiday.

I don't like the idea of trading all our defensive wings and some draft capitol for Jrue. Not unless Alexander-Walker is coming back with him. If that's the case, I have no problem with it.

He'd be expensive, but Jrue is one of the few guys I'd package our defensive wings for since he's the most elite defensive player in that trade scenario.Kobblehead wrote:ankle420breaker wrote:Still unclear whether New Orleans has Jrue Holiday in their long term plans. Ben, Jrue, Embiid defensively would be a problem for teams like Milwaukee and Toronto.

No way is Jrue a better defender than Thybulle. The appeal in Jrue is that he packages being a good defender with being able to pass, make shots and score a little bit. The all-around effect. Not that he's a particularly special defender. He's just a good one (like a PG version of Jimmy Butler, defensively). Matisse is a truly elite defender.

I wonder if Portland has any interest in taking on Tobias. Their signing of Carmelo Anthony suggests that they value the archetype.
