antonio mcdyess had the patellar tendon rupture, came back, and in preseason fractured the same kneecap. so he was out almost two full seasons.

i don't think history is kind to andre roberson in this regard. he'll have missed more time than shaun livingston and the rest of those guys. emeka okafor was out four seasons with the neck injury before his cup of coffee recently.

Trivia: Gallo's career ft rate is higher than LBJ. Still true this season. Gallo in his low-end and LBJ at his all-time lowest.

How is FTr calculated? Isn’t it free throws per FGA?

Anyways, Erik Horne is saying that Weaver did interview in Chicago. Weird.

For team four factors, FTM / FGA is used. For player level I think it should be FTA / FGA but there is some variation, error with that on the internet, even among people claiming to know. BRef doesn't define ft rate but at team level they show both ft/FGA and ft rate and they are different. Supporting the idea that ft rate is fta/fga.

Donovan gets indication Presti would consider bringing him back. Not necessarily as clear or simple as that, though he probably wants him. Donovan probably asks for a raise and 5 years. Presti probably doesn't want to give more than 3 years.

Does Donovan want to look around? Probably. Who would want him? Magic? Could be hard no or maybe. Hornets should ask but may not. Cavs, Knicks, Bulls, Pelicans should consider. He'll have possibilities if he wants to pursue. He'd want these teams to come to him first and only but I dunno if he has that level of pull. Kinda doubt he interviews in competition. Certainly doesn't WANT to. But maybe if it is a job he really likes because of location, prospects or greater pay / security. Sixers, Rockets would require competition. Hawks too. Some of others too probably and either Donovan accepts the process or passes.

It would be awkward if Donovan doesn't negotiate / decide with Presti first, but it might happen.

If he doesn't re-sign, A Griffin and Udoka would be among the candidates if not taken elsewhere beforehand.

Who is Coach in 3-5 years matters more than next year. It may or may not be same guy.

bbr provides definitions for both if you click on the glossary link above the tables

i also prefer FTr for players, since it does not incorporate free throw making ability, which is covered by TS% anyway.

If you go straight to the glossary https://www.basketball-reference.com/about/glossary.html it is not there.

But thanks for confirming via the different link with the same name.

Yep. There that way. Not in the other, probably older glossary. Resolved.

team rates vs. opponent rates

Image

... our FTr and FT% was looking good this season as well as our TOV% (almost 1% point lower than league average)

Bazley's DPIPM is crazy for 19. Only 19-20 year old to have higher DPIPM is Carter Jr.

Hasn't Roberson shared the floor with other good defenders too? Ibaka, George, Adams, Westbrook in '14-'15, etc.?

Of 7 Thunder trios with 300 plus minutes (the level of analysis where the samples start to be more commonly decent) and over plus 10 pts / 100 possessions, they include Schroder 6 times, SGA and Gallo 4 each, Paul and Adams 3 and Dort 1. No T-Ferg.

Only one 5 man lineups over 200 minutes, so those results are probably less reliable. But that lineup had Ferguson with the other starters and was mildly negative. (Maybe a weak start motivates? Some coaches might think so.)

What do you mean by a weak start motivates? Like a weak start to the year?

A weak start to games. Some coaches seem to like to sub and upshift to a better lineup to make them look necessary and smart and they can yell at the players early to motivate for more effort. Maybe some do it knowingly, others may not be that consciously smart / devious.

That's a very specific thing. Rarely ever see Donovan yelling at players. He'll call stuff out, but definitely wouldn't call it yelling. Don't think Donovan would do that. That's just weird.
