NBA Highly Unlikely To Have Postseason Play-In Tournament This Season

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Fri May 8, 2020 8:00 pm

The NBA has considered a postseason play-in tournament, but is considered highly unlikely, according to multiple league sources.

A tournament has been discussed as a way to draw interest late in the season before the start of the playoffs even before the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is ultimately considered too dramatic of a shift in the short term. Since the NBA already has its existing contracts with RSNs and national networks, the league feels the best use of time would be to fulfill those deals rather than introduce a new system.

a play-in would be grossly unfair under the circumstances because it would allow a lower seeded team to get back into playing shape while the lakers/clippers/bucks are sitting on the sidelines. not worth the risk of an out of shape top team getting upset in the first round just so the league can make a few bucks on play-in games
the donald, always unpopular, did worse in EVERY state in 2020. and by a greater margin in red states! 50 independently-run elections, none of them rigged
