I really don't care much for hype machine Melo and I strongly believe he's more bust than any other player. At best he's a taller Trae Young, worst defender in the league at a position that is first line of defense. I see no point in trying to move up, our luck we always drop so why be hyped? I pray that we stay at 6th because it's actually a pretty good spot to be in, If we want to be safe we go for Haliburton. He fits perfect along side of RJ who I expect to continue to improve his shot. Haliburton would give us passing only Jason Kidd's given in the last 20 years.
If we want to go with scoring than we go with home grown. Cole, although not as great a passer as both Haliburton and Melo, he's the better scorer from all around the court. I do feel that he was held back due to the bad team he was and his assist numbers dropped due to the non talent around him. If he had went to a team like Kansas, Florida St, or even Kentucky we would be talking top five with him. Well Coach Calipari would have slowed him down and had more control over how he plays. Most of his negative lead to the bad team he was on.
Killian would be our project child. The player you have to be patient with. He would definitely come off the bench his first year and would have to fight for his spot where LaMelo, Haliburton, and Cole would more than likely start ( LaMelo because of his hype). His issues would be more on us for our patience with first rounders isn't very strong, otherwise he is everything we need in a guard, tall, strong, can see the court, has great form, a beautiful step back, great defense, can run the court....... If were looking to be in the lotto again next year than you take a chance on him. If your looking to improve your position moving towards playoffs you go with Haliburton/Cole.
But I'm more hyped when it comes to players who are looking to be with in the 10-20 range. players you either take on saliry to add an additional pick, trade up from 6th, or trade down from 27th. I'd prefer adding another pick:
Nico Mannion - He could be the best passing guard/ floor general in this draft. He can create for himself and others, great catch and shoot player, great court vision.
Aaron Nesmith - Possibly the best shooter, but doesn't slack off in any other area on the court. If we picked him we could put him at the 2 and slot RJ to the 3. He does a great job reading defenses in order to get in the best spots. His defense, although not great, is pretty solid where he wont hurt his team. Reminds me of Paul Pierce in many ways. Not saying he is as good, but he plays a lot like him.
Kira Lewis Jr. - a taller Speedy Claxton. Love seeing him operate in an open court similar to De'Aaron Fox, just without the defense.
RJ Hampton - Very crafty and can create for himself. Very Athletic, but like Melo, his size makes me question his work ethic. Defense needs a lot of work and also like Melo he does not play team defense.
Patrick Williams - I've said this before, he reminds me of Wilson Chandler, but better because he can handle the ball and unlike Chandler he's more confident. He's someone you can slot at either forward position and he's everything you want as a defensive big.
Jahmi'us Ramsey - 6'4 but plays like he's 6'7. I've only seen highlights, but if you watch his games he plays like a small forward. Can jump out the gym and is very active on both ends of the court. Very Marcus Smart like. Although he's more of a late draft early second Rd, I like this kid.
Saddiq Bey _ Bay is what I wanted with Mikal Bridges, your all around 3 and D player, just not as athletic.
Precious Achiuwa - Screams Jerami Grant. Needs to learn positioning, because he has skill to be a great defender but lacks the knowledge of where and when to be in certain positions such as for help defense, back cuts when the guards attack.....
My sleeper are:
Cassius Stanley - Man this kid is athletic. I do not see him falling to the second round, but if he did I would be pissed if we skipped twice on him. Although he can be reckless, he's everything I wish Dame would be. He's a smarter JR Smith or even Latrell Sprewell (one of my all time favorites so you can see why I like him).
Leandro Bolmaro - Oh man this kid is crafty. Similar to Doncic, but I feel he would take longer to even think about being at that level, but man does this man move.
If we could come out of this draft with either Haliburton/Cole, Pat Williams/Nesmith, Stanley/Bolmaro I would be a happy motherf......
