This will probably make some teams have very little reason to try to win, Portland is 3.5 games behind Memphis and if we played the full 82 games Memphis plays a very tough schedule to finish it out, meanwhile Portland has one of the easiest remaining schedules.

If it's just 5 remaining games the only way Portland catches Memphis is if they lose out and Portland wins out.

Playoff bound teams probably prefer a few games before they begin the postseason. Conditioning will be an issue for some players.

I would almost prefer all teams play 5 games and then resort to the NHL format of a 24 team playoff. The top 4 teams in each conference get a bye while seeds 5 through 12 have a best of 5 play in round.

Now I think this would be pretty fun in the west but the east might be a little boring. I just think this is the fairest way since we wont be completing a 82 game schedule. A team like memphis had a really hard finish to the season while other teams like the pelicans did not.

I agree but owners and players don’t want to lose the money. So we get a 5-7 game summer league that will impact draft standings way more than play-off chances.

Perhaps the NBA agrees but I think it has to be greater than 7-10... especially in the west as the 10th spot is currently a tie.

The NBA sent out a survey to all 30 NBA GMs on Friday night regarding how to restart the season, league sources told Shams Charania of The Athletic.

The poll included whether the NBA should have a play-in tournament, how many teams should be in the bubble site, and the number of scrimmages and regular season games before the playoffs.

GMs will vote on the following scenarios, including:

whether teams can advance directly to the playoffs
a "playoffs plus" option that includes a play-in tournament for the final seed(s)
playing out a full regular season
a traditional playoff format or reseed all of the teams
the last possible finish date, including November 1
