Re: Official NBA Season Return Thread (UPDATE: Disney/NBA commence discussions)
It only makes sense to me to bring back the teams at a minimum who have a chance to make the playoffs. Why increase the risk of infection by adding more people to this bubble than are actually necessary. For that reason, I would be good for expanding the playoff field for this year and having the bottom teams play in. the only question then becomes what happens to the teams that are automatically in? They should also have some games to play before the actual playoff rounds take place.

If they don’t reach 72 games they don’t get full tv money so that should mean pay cuts. If players don’t mind losing a portion of their salary they should be able to sit if they don’t feel it’s worth it.

props to Turbozone for the sig

He should sit the **** home with no pay then. Part his contract and the source of funds to pay his damn ass comes from these network deals. If he's not going to fulfill the basic requirement of playing, then that should be enough to void his goddamn contract and right to income.
Imagine being this mad at someone for not wanting to meaninglessly risk the health of themselves or their family just to help a corporation make more money.

I only see this as just entertainment for Us with the whole covid 19 thing and that’s about it. The results are borderline meaningless at this point. You’re always going be known as the covid 19 champs. It’s unfair to compare this championship to other championships where guys were grinding it out for a whole season and limping into the playoffs like kawhi was last season. I mean even a rookie could possibly be hitting the rookie wall by now and he’ll be Fresh to go. It’s just not comparable to other championships and shouldn’t be on the same level when being discussed. Old Guys like Vince Carter who’s usually limping by now is coming back fresh to end the season smh it’s just not a realistic feeling. If the raptors were to lose in the first round we’ll see how serious some of you will take this whole thing.
The Covid 19 Champs. I don't like the sound of that. It cheapens us being the 19 Champs.

I think they don't order 1-16
Doubt Eastern GMs get on board that, and it would make this playoff\season even more gimikky. Keep the playoff rivalies going.

I'm not saying he needs to play, I'm saying players who don't play should receive a pay cut, with no discussion. You can't have your cake and eat it too.

You didn't suggest a pay cut, you explicitly said "No pay". You also stated he should have no right to income. Why doesn't he have a right to not want to get sick without having to forfeit 100% of his pay?

I just want whatever is decided for the opening round to benefit the Raptors. Anything to avoid having to face the Nets with a healthy and rested KD & Kyrie right out of the gate.

I'm sure there will be a provision in "amended agreement" between NBA/NBPA that would cover this.
Potentially NBPA might agree to treat him as suspended and not allow him to be with the team.
Having him their on the bench would lead to announcers rehashing why he is not playing, and potentially can bad light for NBA.
If you openly don't want to play, your not in the bubble.

You and Lillard both need to get your priorities straight. Lillard doesn't get paid to strictly win, nor does he get paid to play "meaningful games". He gets paid to play, PERIOD. If a chance at the playoffs is his deciding factor on whether or not to participate in a board decision, then his agent needs to sit his ass down and have a serious conversation to remind him that the major leagues is a goddamn business.

The fact you seem to be more concerned about this "goddamn business" instead of the health and safety of humans suggests you may be the one who needs to get his or her priorities straight.

Like I said, it's a board decision, decisions that I trust aren't made lightly and are after discussions with the necessary and capable personnel.

o One tournament to win the number one pick/ draft order for non-playoff teams
-I am sure Lillard would play in that tournament to reinforce his team. (if he is about winning)
-without that, I understand the Lillards, the Currys and others..no point of playing if there is no pathway to the playoffs
o and the main tournament to decide the Champion/playoffs

The players and their union aren't forced to accept said board decisions. That's why they have a union.

They need to allow the Raptors to hold their camp in Orlando directly.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
Please advise….
