It's pretty telling that you're not sitting in an actual restaurant ordering "wings" for the meal. That "restaurant" is actually a bar, or highly specialized.

It's not between meals though, it's part of the meal. The opening note, the introduction, the first inning.

Wings are absolutely not a meal all the time. One of the most popular creation stories of buffalo wings was out of the need for a "snack."

You yourself can't seem to decide on your own definition of an appetizer. First it's "before a meal" (your words), and now it's "part of a meal." You're moving goal posts as to what an appetizer is now.

I mean, if we're going to start adding apps to this list, it's going to become unwieldy and the line will become more and more arbitrary. Are sliders a snack, then? Then why not a hamburger? A hamburger is just a bigger slider.

I think for the sake of clarity, appetizers should be out.

Because if you're eating 4 or 5 burgers, you are a glutton?

It's not as if you have some sort of limited, finite, set of options to choose from without them, but then oh boy, this is just too much when we throw apps into the mix. I don't know how a list becomes "unwieldy" with the inclusion of appetizers when you have an unlimited number of options either way.

If wings are a "snack", you're either heating up Tyson Anytizers - in which case, if you're over 16, you're a sociopath - or we're talking about ordering snacks from restaurants/take out or spending a significant amount of time making your snack. And is that really a snack?

You grab a snack from your pantry or fridge and go sit on your couch.
