I tend to agree, but I do feel like if I were basing my opinion off just his offensive game, I come away quite impressed. His lack of effort and ball watching on offense could be a symptom of bad coaching/not caring due to the team sucking (which is a flaw in it's own right). He's certainly a project, but offensively he impacts the game greatly by finishing strong at the rim and drawing fouls. Those are two elite traits that should, baseline, get him drafted.

either Lee or Dosunmu would be a great get on a 2-way, both have upside but aren't ready to help the Sixers now

Will Ayo ever be ready to help a real team?

He's hopeless defensively and not even that strong a creator to compensate.

Is Tre Jones expected to go in the 20s? I was really hoping to get him with a top 40 pick.

I think Tre is likely going 20s to early 2nd, yeah, doubt he gets past that

as for Lee and Ayo, I'd be okay with drafting them late, but much happier to just get them as udfas, I haven't put down fully who I avbsolutely would draft, but they are both borderline there

I just think I'd much rather have a Tres Tinkle, Skylar Mays, Trent Forest, or international stash rather than use a pick on Saben or Ayo.

I feel like Saben had one if the best final 10-15 games of the season of anyone in the SEC. Once again, his offense will translate in all likelihood. If a team can get him to buy in on defense, then they have a steal.

What offense, though?

He seems to possess very little offensive game apart from drawing fouls and backdoor cuts.

And finishing at the rim better than almost every guard in the country. Also shot around 4 threes a game. Four 30+ games in his final 15 with one be 38 points on only 5 FTA.

Also one of the best OBPM against top 50 teams:

I don't see it.

Can't shoot, no mid-range game, weak dribble separation.

Why do you think he's among the best finishers in the country? 60.4% at the rim is pretty ordinary. Especially considering he's being assisted north of 23% of the time he's at the rim.

He doesn't hold a candle to Devon Dotson's finishing ability, for instance, and Devon is smaller and less vertically explosive than Saban. And gets there unassisted way more, too.

And what about your Kentucky brethren Maxey? I think he's a way better finisher than Lee, too.

BTW, as a sophomore, when Saban got to the rim less assisted (17.4%), he finished at just a 56.6% rate.

Seems like he needs those backdoor cuts just to get to 60%. That's not really indicative of someone who's an elite finisher.

It's fine to not see it, it's not like we're talking about a top ten talent here.

But I think you're overselling others while underselling Lee.

% shots at the rim

Saben Lee: 54%
Tyrese Maxey: 31%
Devon Dotson: 50%

FG% at the rim

Saben Lee: 60%
Tyrese Maxey: 65%
Devon Dotson: 65%

%ast at the rim

Saben Lee: 23%
Tyrese Maxey: 16%
Devon Dotson: 18%

I think the difference is marginal and it's also not even taking into consideration the strength of the team around the other two. UK and KU will both have 3-4 NBA players on their team aside from Maxey and Dotson and are both coached by hall of famers. Saben had Nesmith for like half the season and is coached by 1st year Jerry Stackhouse. It's just not even close to the same situation for Lee.

Is Ty-Shon Alexander a guy that should be higher on most boards? He's a guy I have discussed in the past and watched quite a bit of him back when Khyri Thomas and Marcus Foster were running the show. He was one of the better scorers in the Big East last year, but I've read some very high praise about his defensive play last year:

• Of the 200 D1 players who defended at least 275 possessions, Alexander finished first in defensive efficiency (0.622 PPP). Duke’s Tre Jones (ACC DPOY) was second at 0.660.

In terms of 3&D role players, he should be in the conversation more, imo.

I think those numbers prove explicitly that Saban Lee is nowhere near among the best finishers in the country. As shown, he's not even elite among the tiny 6'3" and under finishers.

I think that's a piping hot take by @MavsDraft

I think Alexander is a pretty bad defensive prospect. Kyrie Thomas was a strong defender. I don't see Alexander as one, at all. Wouldn't be surprised if he's a complete liability on the defensive end. Not much of a creator on the offensive end, either. So I don't see a lot of appeal in him.

His jumper was absolutely lights out this year, though. The League values spacing so I'm sure he'll have plenty of suitors. Can't say I'd be one of them, though.

Kamar Baldwin has been floating around forever and has a bunch of C+ or B- traits and is pretty well-rounded. Surprised he's not getting more love from all the people on twitter digging around for draft prospects.

I feel like Mason Jones is going to be a second round pick for us if he falls that far. In the past two drafts we've taken Marial Shayok and Shake Milton, two unathletic scorers with impressive shooting profile. Mason Jones fits that prospect type and would likely be a guy that lights up the board in the G-League.

If Shake has a huge rest of season/playoffs and the team feels good about using him as a trade sweetener, then they might want to keep that train going.
