This is HUGE for us.

We can let FA play out and dangle the TPE to teams that need extra cap space. We can wait for the dust to settle and shake loose guys that might not be available at the beginning of the offseason.

Light years ahead baby!

Gasol has been injured a lot, but if they could talk him into signing for $5M instead of what he could get elsewhere, probably double that, it might be worth it.

How about breaking up the TPE and getting multiple guys. Maybe TJ Warren from Indiana. He would be a nice scorer off the bench. Use the other part on a defensive specialist.

Warren would be nice, but the chances of getting him for a draft pick, even a high one, seem slim.

With revenue down and the cap changing, some smaller market teams might be looking to dump some guys they don’t necessarily need so they can trim payroll. I was thinking the Pacers aren’t big spenders and you might be able to to get someone like Warren.

Good news. The Warriors would have had 24 hours to use the TPE, but now with all the schedule changes they get a full week to make the deal.

It's possible, but certainly teams will look to get better value back first so while it's possible the Warriors will be at the bottom of the list if they are only offering 2nd round picks.

Could we just get Iguodala back?

We could. I actually thought when Miami got Igoudola they would use him for the playoffs and then ship him to us. I don't think Miami is a contender, maybe Riley sees his chips differently. I always thought it was mutual to bring Andre back after he was traded. We could use the TPE to bring Igoudola back.

I have seen rumors that the Heat are intrigued by Lamelo Ball and I think with the age of the core they have it makes sense to swing for the fences. I don't think Lamelo is a fit for us, we saw it with D-Lo. Nunn had a great year but I don't think the Heat are confident in him as a high end point guard. I could see Igoudola+Nunn+Heat 1st for TPE+Warriors 1st rounder.

The Heat imo are not in a position to be paying Igoudola a 3 year 45 million dollar deal. I also don't think the Heat give Nunn a big long term deal.

We could take Saddiq Bey as a young developmental small forward with a late 1st. Let Igoudola limit his minutes before the playoffs. Allow Nunn and Paschall to get heavy use as a potent 1-2 punch off the bench surrounded by shooters and Looney and Andre as calming vets.

Miami is in win-now mode since they have Jimmy Butler. Riley is notoriously anti tanking

No thanks on Iguodala at $15M next year. Too many think of him as he was years ago, now he'll be 37 around the beginning of next season and way past the value he once had.

If the Warriors are doing well next season, maybe Miami thinks about buying him out.

Then a lot of playoff teams will probably try to sign him for some minimum, as they tried to acquire him before Miami got him.

I'm a tad worried that the Andre deal was pre-planned with Miami and we'd be using the TPE on him.

As much as I love Andre, I hope thats not the case and we can potentially use the TPE on a higher minutes guy. We don't have the luxury anymore to have a guy chill during the regular season to show up in the WCF and Finals. We need minutes in the regular season so we actually get to the playoffs.

Yeah, our bench is really thin and we may be relying on a rookie for a slot (not to mention Smailagic, Poole, etc. who are highly questionable), so we need to acquire guaranteed production. Which is also why I'd be against Iguodala at that price, he's going to give you intangibles but he can't do much scoring these days, and even his defense is probably still on the decline.

Would Dante Exum be worth a look? Think hes about 10m and not worth the money. Decent enough 3pt shooter and a bigger guard. I wouldnt think CLE would be too upset to let him go although I dont think they’d pay us to take him (maybe a 2nd swap?)

Given his injury history and how much money he's made, plus his lack of production, he's a negative value contract. They'd need to pay us to take him, which is unlikely

For the reserve guard spot, you want some reliability, otherwise whats the point? We aren't in developmental mode trying to take bad contracts that might improve, we're looking for someone with a better track record and/or way less cost.

Someone like Shabazz Napier will probably cost around the minimum and is good for 12 minutes a night running a second unit, and is also fungible if we find a better option or if Poole improves enough to take a backup PG job on a contender.

There's more drastic moves like Ricky Rubio, who is pretty proven. We know what he can do, and he may be superfluous to PHX depending what they wanna do (Draft a PG high, clear cap space to sign someone, etc)

Afaik PHX is pushing to make the playoffs next year - they dont want Booker to be the next superstar tired of losing and demanding a trade. I find it highly unlikely the Suns would deal Rubio for dollar savings and/or draft assets. I think they’d be more likely to deal an unproven player (or their pick) for a vet.

The only teams that jump out at me that may be willing to make a dollar saving move would be the Rockets, Philly, and maybe Orlando (?). Milwaukee has a huge salary cap figure but I dont think they can afford to look budget conscience to Giannis.

As the cap numbers are released there may be other teams but I’m not picturing a huge market. Hope I’m wrong.

Rewatching Josh Richardson highlights and I really think if the 76ers don’t make noise in these playoffs that he could be had for the TPE. Ben Simmons, Embiid, Tobias, & Horford are eating up so much cap space.

They have Thybulle and Shake Milton in the wings on rookie contracts. Throw in some 2nd rounders if they want it for cheap contracts.

We would still have about $6.4 million left for TPE. AUSTIN RIVERS?!?! :D

I doubt the Rox would deal with us, but I wouldn't mind Covington if they're getting cheap and there's a way. Looks like his contract is $11.3M [correction: $12.1M] for next year. That's the type of versatile bench player we could use with Iguodala gone.
