I've been saying this for awhile now, And people were acting like I was crazy or something. But for my part, He does remind me of a mix of three players mostly:
1- Fred Van Vleet. His poise/ clutch shot making, etc. Strong playmaking POTENTIAL ( should he develop it fully, pesky defense ( when he's locked in, and committed).
2- Prime Deron Williams. His elite ability to penetrate/ breakdown defenses and score super efficiently around/at the rim.
3- Kyrie Irving. His burst, advanced ballhandling skills, elite isolation scoring ability too. Just very clever and crafty as an iso scorer.
I think he's a big time sleeper that projects best in the 17- 25 range of the draft.
I agree with that range but I doubt he will be a 1st rounder.
7/7.5 PG prospects usually tend to be in this range but sadly, this is a year where the PG class is insanely deep. I think he may fall to the 2nd round just due to the draft's positional depth. We saw this happen last year with the center position.
What makes you think Riller won't be a first rounder?

I like him as a Lou Williams type, but I still think he falls to the 2nd round because he's 23, smaller conference, tweener size, questionable defensive ability, and not a great 3 point shooter.

CJ led the Pac-12 in total steals (56)/steals per game (1.8) as I mentioned above and was 4th in the Pac-12 in points per game (18.9 ppg) while leading his team in rebounds per game (7.8). CJ is a 82% ft shooter as well as being a clutch player.
He reminds me a lot of Klay Thompson who also played college basketball at Washington State. Not saying that he will be as good a player as Klay but he has a lot of Klay's characteristics in his game. Klay is mentoring CJ as both went to the same college and have developed a bond as Klay has said that he sees a lot of himself in CJ. Former NBA coach Earl Watson has called Elleby worthy of a first round pick & potentially the steal of the draft. NBADraft.net currently has CJ at #37 overall and had him as a late 1st rounder (#26) before that.
He’s more like Malcolm Brogdon. He has huge hands is a good ball handler. He was playing really well in summer league last year. He had two games where he looked really good, but Nickeil Alexander-Walker also looked great so take it with a grain of salt. His game is made for the space in the NBA.

You would think he would be good by looking at his stats and tape, but scouts have remarked that his awareness on both ends of the floor is extremely bad to the point where you wonder if he even goes drafted.
