Portland was legally all white until 1922 and it remains a major KKK Hub

Yup. I can feel it with a lot of the "old guard" here whose descendants have been here for awhile. There's been a white migration to Portland (myself included) but most of the attraction there was mountains and oceans and trees and bikes - don't really feel anything malicious with most of the newer arrivals. But once I started interacting more with "native" Oregonians there's a palpable hostility towards outsiders and then I got to learn some of the history. I thought (the hostility) was funny at first because as New Yorker, really, who doesn't hate Californians but it clearly goes deeper than that. Being a person of Jewish descent here feels somewhat exotic. Need to sniff a crowd out before I let that info be known. Lucky me, eh?

If your skin is white and you still noticed some weirdness, that should tell you something... My wife was in some rural part of Oregon about 10 years ago for a work project and said she got nasty stares from the white woman in the lounge of her hotel...she felt the racist aura of that place.

But since words are important,....historically the hostility was towards non whites, "Outsider" and half Indian whites (who could probably pass for white or were the 5$ variety) were free to live there.

Im glad those people are exposing themselves..

Oh it does.

Burbs and rural Oregon is a whole different level. I've been yelled at for being a terrorist while driving my car... presumably because I was in a Prius??? I look a little Semitic when I have a tan? Still have no clue.

At the same time, Portland will always have some of the biggest and most passionate rallies for any social issue. It's a hodgepodge. But like I said, I definitely watch my back a little more here than I did back east.

I'm aware this might sound hypocritical, but it'd be great if we could convince those people to find a remote island to live out their years. Differences in opinion is are much different than just hateful for no reason/racist people. I don't think the world would miss those people.

I've run accords that variety of racist before(the low IQ kind) in parts of Florida, Staten Island and upstate NY...I've run into the elitist "Karen" kind smack dab in the middle NYC. So if they ever do get their own homeland I hope it'll be open for both types.

So, what's the name of the male version of a Karen? Because I have to deal with these azz hole mofos who come off of their property to confront me when, while walking my dog in the neighborhood, my dog (a 90 lb. Great Pyrenees mix) is walking on and sniffing that patch of grass in front of people's homes between the sidewalk and the curb (here in suburbia). They'll tell me to get my dog off of "their" lawn. Then I tell then that it's not their lawn because it's "public property." Then they say "But I have to maintain it!" "But there are no signs saying to keep dogs off and my taxes pay for that property, etc."

I've now come to conclude each of these little exchanges with "If you come out of your house to confront me like this again, I'll knock your faking teeth down your throat." :D

EDIT: But I don't condone violence! It's just that these guys catch me off guard when I'm all relaxed walking "Phoebe" and listening to my music and just forgetting about life. But now I feel like I'm living in some kind of video game where you never know when you're going to get attacked by the enemy. Definitely not relaxing. So now I have to choose a path where I have to avoid walking on certain block if I want to avoid these "Bobs." Bobs? Karens?

Ah, I'm from upstate NY, and I'm sorry you've run into those types up here. Hopefully you'll have a better experience and realize the majority of us aren't like that - most of us don't care. As long as you're a nice person, we like you.

At this point, I'd be on board with starting a GoFundMe to get all of those types their own island. Just need to make sure it's far away, because I'm sure the racists and karens of the world are loud, as evident by the videos.

Hm, I wonder the same thing. I know the millennial douchebag, partier is called Chad. But what's the male equivalent to Karen.

Bob is okay, but I think there's a better one.

I've been trying my hand at standup, and my go-to is Larry. But I usually use that name to describe an overly excited person who is into boring/stupid things.

But I also like Larry David and CYE.

One of my favorite all time bits, by one of my favorite all time comedians.

Love this bit, especially because he actually references my name as one of the "goofy ****" ones. It's like he wrote the joke for me :D

I only have a few bits so far, about 5-7 minutes. Much harder than I realized. Only did open mic once. I have a bit about Wal Mart shopping carts and walking students through the hallway/having children. One of my cleaner bits, but somehow the one that has hit the best.

Something tells me there will, and should, be a bunch of bits coming out about Karens.
