yeah... i said days ago and i'm saying it again. they need to rethink florida right now

even if it doesn't mean death, just having covid can lead to some serious long-term complications/long-term lung damage. don't think nba players use those, right? :noway:

Also for discussion, the supposed medical treatments that have been discovered have a low dose of steroids. Will the NBA, or major sport, approve the medication? Would they back off because of it being potentially exploded

Wasn't that treatment only really helpful for those in critical condition on ventilators?

But I doubt either way that any league would stand in the way of effective treatment during a pandemic. This thing is costing them billions, do you really think they are going to worry about some hypothetical sport integrity issue in this case. Or open themselves up to being sued if someone is impacted because they were dissuaded from effective treatment.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

4000 plus cases a day. Yes they will be in a bubble but to potentially house that bubble in America's next hot spot epicentre, is dumb af.

Florida's test positivity percentages of new cases for the last week:

6/13: 4.38%
6/14: 5.34%
6/15: 7.29%
6/16: 10.12%
6/17: 8.77%
6/18: 9.97%
6/19: 12.36%

Yeah, Florida is ****. Queue that 'Bugs Bunny sawing off Florida.gif'

Well if it is helpful to those in critical condition, it will also be helpful for those with minimal symptoms.

They would be exposed to spreading it to other guys on the team, so treatment has to be available to them regardless of how their condition is.

The cheap league office can't afford to lose more money. They've got the hotels and restaurants booked up.

https://www.ctvnews.ca/mobile/health/what-we-know-about-the-potentially-life-saving-covid-19-drug-dexamethasone-1.4989651
After 28 days, there was a reduction in deaths by one third in ventilated patients and by one fifth in patients who only needed supplemental oxygen. There appeared to be no benefit for patients with milder disease.

I’m not a doctor, but I don’t think you can generally make the assumption that because a drug helps for critically ill patients, it will be at all effective for mild cases or the other way around.

This obsession with Orlando ( MLS and NBA) is stupid.
For lease.

I wish they would just come to a decision that's all. Either stick with what the plan is and move on or cancel the season

As far as we know, they have done nothing to alter the plans they have put in place. The decision was already made.

Well hopefully it stays that way cause it sounds like there's a lot of uncertainty but I guess that's why they set the deadline for players to drop out

Just cancel this stupid season already. Who even cares about basketball anymore? The weather is beautiful out, most people are unemployed and desperately seeking work, others are focusing on their families or whatever cause that empowers them...

Just scrub the damn season and start fresh like normal October/November FFS.

Ron DeSantis should impale himself and be fed to the gators.

I can see the nba starting this up on July 30.......I DO NOT see them finishing this thing.....

Is it better to try and shutdown if things get out of hand or just shut it down and start fresh later on ?

They will probably think about re-location before they think about cancelling the season.

Unless they have plan B ready to go in all aspects it is too late to change now. This wasn't just thrown together

I was saying this earlier but they should have went to states like Alaska, Maine, Vermont etc. where there are literally no cases and almost no chance of a spike because of how rural and less dense those areas are.
