Nah, we're hopeful that you guys don't make the playoffs so it turns into a 1st round lottery pick, LOL jk. I put "Protected" as it's the same as "Conditional." Otherwise, I'd say this one would be an ideal trade.

I've seen Vernon Carey slipping on the mock sites. What do you guys think about taking him at 32?

I think I'd be happy with it. Carey isn't just a back to the basket guy. He can handle the ball well for a guy his size. He also has decent vision and good range on his jumper. While he won't ever be a game changer defensively he's good under the basket and he's a really good defensive rebounder. I'd also bet on him getting better. I like him at 32.

I like him a 32 and never thought to add him cuz I thought he'd go much higher but will do so soon

Carey would be incredible value at 32 and would contribute immediately off the bench.

I am considering adding Tyrell Terry and Tyrese Halliburton back in the consideration for my #1 pick. Since they are both my type of players. The reason I haven't mentioned them much is because I wasn't considering drafting a PG. Although Hayes is a PG I think there is more hope for him as a combo guard.

Avdija is a poor free throw shooter, has a slow release, and his size advantage won't be nearly as big playing in the NBA. He has some talent but I think a very low ceiling and high bust potential.
The Charlotte Hornets will win their first round series against the Boston Celtics in the 2021 Playoffs

Since a few on here like the idea of drafting a Center, here is one that should be available late in the draft . Daniel Oturu. He is a solid prospect, but doesn't do anything flashy... I doubt he would be the answer to fill our void at center, but he could be a decent option if fell to our 56 pick.

I am not a fan of any Center in this years draft. If I were to choose one it would probably be Jalen Smith. 2nd would be tied with Zeke Nnaji and Caleb Wesson. DJ Funderburk I think is soso

EDIT:

FIVE CENTERS I would consider drafting in this years draft

Jalen Smith
Reggie Perry
Caleb Wesson
Zeke Nnaji
DJ Funderburk

Tillman would not be a bad choice at 32. The ceiling and his age are a concern, but it is a sure bet - his skills can translate as he is obviously not counting 'just' on his athleticism to impact the game, and he is by far the best passing big in this draft (if he is still available by then).

Anyway most likely Hornets won't get their star in this draft and need to lock high lottery picks for 2022/23. I just hope they won't gamble too much with 'potential' and do a mix (or even play safe, ie pick Okongwu vs Wiseman for example).

Avdija second game back; small sample size but Avdija 5/10 from 3 and 9/10 from free throw line in those two games; he also purportedly added 6kg of muscle during covid hiatus

Haliburton also putting in work during hiatus; quote from ESPN+ article
The gains I've made with my body will impress people. It's been six days a week in the weight room for two months basically. I've never lifted like this before.

Deni looks pretty good. If he were to fall to 8, I would be cool with that pick.

Haliburton would be amazing around 8. No way he last that far. Same with Deni

I have no idea what to make of this draft and for some reason Im having a hard time getting myself interested in it, which is bizarre because the draft is usually one of my favorite things about the NBA season.

Unless we get a top 2 pick I don't see our lottery pick cracking the starting lineup, so yes its a little abysmal

This draft is probably like the 2010 draft. Just a bunch of average bench players past the first 2 picks, with a couple diamonds that require the absolute best situation in order to be all-stars

Yeah, thats part of it too. This draft also just doesn't really seem that good. There will be some great players come from it I'm sure, but we've kind of been spoiled by some really amazing drafts recently and this one just feels a bit lackluster.
