WeLp.....

Post#1 » by ecuhus1981 » Tue Jun 30, 2020 1:58 am

The Brooklyn Nets have been the cannon fodder of fate all season. I won't recount the entire list of unfortunate events, we know them by heart. I was tenuously optimistic about seeing the team in this restart bubble, regardless of the outcome. But again, fate had one last trick up his sleeve to sabotage my joy.

With the latest news of Spencer and DeAndre contracting coronavirus and therefore being unable to participate, I think it's time to throw in the towel on our enthusiasm. I worry for them, and I hope they and the rest of the Nets who contracted this disease recover well.

I know that we're in a very favorable position to advance to the playoffs, with Orlando back half of a game, and Washington having a tougher schedule and needing to beat some good teams just to trigger a play-in with us. I'm not generally an advocate for tanking, but in this circumstance I feel it's in our best interest to lay down and like the ennui wash over us.

We're going to have to put out PG by committee, our already thin rotation will be stretched further, and guys that don't deserve postseason minutes will be significantly exposed. I don't care about trying to sidestep Milwaukee anymore; Boston or Toronto would also embarrass us, so there's no escaping that misery via seeding. I'm more worried about losing the most redeeming part of this season, our 1st round pick. If we keep it this year, even in a weak draft, we could supplement our core with high caliber prospects. If we fall bass ackward into the playoffs, it just removes that future asset from the table as well.

Ugh, I'm done for now. Please either commiserate with me, or talk me off the ledge.

Here's my best guess at our depth chart:

LeVert / Chiozza
Johnson / Temple
Harris / Cabarrot
Prince / Musa
Allen / Kurucs

We just signed Justin Anderson to replace Wilson Chandler, but we have 4 more slots to fill in our 15-man roster. No offense to our 2-way guys, I am hoping for an higher caliber of talent, to push one or two of the young guys for rotation minutes.

#1 on my wish list would be DeMarcus Cousins.

I would also like to see DMC with us.....but at this point, the wiretap says three guys on the Pelicans are infected as well....This is crazy. And what scares me the most is that I bet none of these guys knew they had it until the test results.

The only one silver lining I can see if the NBA pushes through this, is that there are going to be a good amount of guys who dream of playing in the NBA will come true.
