I remember when he was arguably the best PG in the game. It's hard to believe that CP3 still playing great and Deron is out of the league.

Huge Deron fan out of college.

I feel like he just didn't take care of his body in his later years and started to get hit by injuries.

you are burying the lede. 2 other NBA point guards were born literally the same day as Deron(crazily enough all 3 were teammates for a season) and only one still stands, the great JJ Barea.

Also, I didn't realize this was how the stretch provision worked. I thought that was just for cap purposes but the player got his money per the contract he signed. This actually sucked for Deron if the Nets got to profit off of holding his money.

I saw JJ Barea completely outplay Chris Paul at the Under 21 Tournament of the Americas, so pretty much case closed: JJ > CP3 > Deron. Anyone figuring out their all-time point guard ranking take note and remember to put the NBA champion above his lesser contemporaries.

I can't imagine getting paid 15k a day...especially for doing nothing.

Imagine being paid more in a week than 99% of Americans make in a year, for doing absolutely nothing.

Not sure where people are getting this "doing nothing" bit. It's a deferred payout. He did play basketball to earn it.
