posted about him a while back. Big Harper fan; one of the best shooters in this draft and great handles; he played more off-ball at Baylor, but he can run the point, tho he's not an advanced passer. Solid defender too

He's someone I hope is still there at #38

I'm surprised he's considered to be a mid 2nd rounder, he should go higher

I would buy stock in RJ Hampton if i could. The athletiscm/speed/burst/size combo is crazy. He hustles everywhere and puts the wheels to work. He plays with some nice change of speeds. Def needs to get stronger, work on the jumper, clean up decision making. Its a work in progress, but can see plenty of signs...he has a high ceiling to me that might be slept on a little.

He's definitely a guy that;s been hurt by covid and the lack of work outs. Love his athletic profile but right now he's a jack of all trades, master of none. I've read a few scouting reports saying he really struggled defensively down under. Another thing I worry about is how much his skillset overlaps with our RJ. How many downhill slashers does one team need?

WHERE THOUGH?!?!?!

You right. I only should watch Highlight videos to do research on prospects.

It also really easy to avoid looking at actual facts (like you know how 9 =/= 10), or anything that doesn't fall in line with your opinion. Also if you cut up ALL of LaMelo's film, the you could make a feature film trilogy with how much it is.

Seriously.

So what you're saying is that you and Hezi are right and pretty much just about everyone else is wrong, except Wingo, of course. The man is almost always right.

Yea, true. He probably wouldn't be a good fit next to RJ. That would be some bad spacing.

Defensively, i think he can be ok at the least. He looked lost at times, but that should be expected. He seems to have good instincts for blocks and steals. Def has the speed, athletiscm and size. Needs some experience and to add some muscle.

Yeah he seems slept on. He's a 1st round talent for sure and has a lot of upside. He's only 19

the FO should look to acquire more picks and/or try to move up from #27. teams will be looking to cut cap and we have an advantage as one of the few teams with cap space

having 3 picks in the top 40 is great, but what's the harm in adding more?

Look at the Celtics for example, a team constantly praised for their young talent; over the past 5 drafts, they've taken on average 3.8 players per draft. The more picks you have, the higher the chance you have of finding impact players.

There's so many kids in this draft that have so much talent and could end up being good or great players in the NBA. There's no way to fully predict what any of these kids will do because you don't know how they're talents will take to the NBA game since the NBA game is played different then college or any of these euro leagues. RJ Hampton is definitely one of those players that could be anything from a bust to a bench player to a 6th man to a starting player.

Side note but I see Mitch teasing more and more often as of late about shooting the ball next season.. if he goes all of next year without even looking at the basket when he's wide open out there he's officially cap king...

1 assist off, and he went 10-28 to get 25 points. He literally went 2-9 with RJ matched up on him. Those two shots made were also contested fade away long 2s. **** if RJ got 28 shots a game, would we as fans be just as much on his nut sack.

Look past a box score (Btw the box score shows that the kid shot terribly and turned the ball over 6 times (1 steal by RJ and a bad pass while RJ was guarding him)).

Also before you tell me to use the eye test with LaMelo:

RJH put the clamps on him

I have been trying to convince myself on LaMelo as our number 1 guy. Been achieving that by just watching his highlight videos while ignoring those showing his weaknesses, what his shooting percentages are and how down his team was during those clips.

Something that still concerns me though is if he is athletic enough to be able to effectively score at the NBA level. His double clutch layups are nice and all but I see this easily being swatted by NBA bigs. Also what would happen if he is being guarded by better athletes, perhaps RJ provides a glimpse as to what could happen on a nightly basis.

Yeah LaMelo could do those putback dunks but he is no Penny, which is what some fans peg him to be.

He is basically one that would rely on skill. While not a bad thing, his FG% definitely would have to be much better for him to be an effective player in the league.

Mitch is a below 60% FT shooter. I cant get excited about his range. I hope he keep shooting only at the rim for the time being.

I like Green more. Think he's just more versatile and overall a better player. Nesmith is a good shooter but I don't really know what kind of scorer he will be in the NBA. His shot creation isn't all that advanced imo so he looks a lot like a spot up shooter in a 3 and D mold but he's not even that good defensively so I'm not sure where I even stand on him to be honest. Green seems like a more versatile and more upside player.

The fluidity on his shot just looks different than other bigs. He needs to be encouraged to shoot and be confident in it. The ability is there, I don't care if it's against Rec league players that are 5"10", it still doesn't change how something looks and his jumper just looks good. You looks at other bigs and a lot of them don't have that type of fluidity in their shot, not even in pickup games, there's still a lot of mechanical look to their shot.
