He is still going against vets and pros. It is def better then D3 competition. It's just a 12 game sample size where he struggled the first 6, looked much better the next 6. Even if you just look at the numbers...22.0 points, 9.2 boards and 8.2 assists with shooting splits of 40/31/75 is still impressive. Doesn't need to shoot 40% from 3. Even if he is just 31-35% can still be a really good player...Luka only shoots 32% from 3.
Luka’s TS is 58%. Lamelo’s is 46%. There’s a big difference.
And the competition is pretty weak at the end of the day. Washed up vets and pros. Who’s the best guy there? Aaron Brooks? Come on. Lol It’s not even close to D1.
He is probably not going to be Luka, so that is ok. His TS% and efficiency over the last 6 games was getting better and improved. That was more the point. He was playing better. It is still def a concern, but something he can improve. The playmaking and passing is what sets him apart though. He can be really good and make a huge impact without nescessarily being super efficient.
Even if you look at D1, how many of those guys even make it to the NBA and have careers? Maybe 1%? Most college players end up in leagues like Australia, except they are bigger/stronger/more experienced. Yea, the top guys in the NCAA are better, but when you look at the overall competition its close. A bunch of dudes in NBL were all conference college players (Bryce Cotton, Casper Ware, etc). Of course most arent good enough to be in the NBA, but thats how most leagues are. Even in this draft, maybe like 15-20 players may actually end up with a long term NBA career?
