LOC'D ON SUNS PODCAST has just released their Phoenix suns 2020 MOCK offseason. They definitely covered many good and important topics too.

On today's episode, Sam Cooper is back as he joins Evan for our first Suns mock offseason exercise! What ends up happening as they both put on the GM hats for Phoenix?
- Who should the Suns keep around?
- With team options and restricted tags on the table, there's a few decisions to make. Dario Saric or Frank Kaminsky for the backup power forward spot?
- Will Jevon Carter or Elie Okobo stick around? - How about re-signing Aron Baynes, and at what price tag?
- Will Kelly Oubre Jr. be on the move this offseason to improve the overall roster balance?
- Evan proposes a HUGE deal that could be a win-win for both sides, but especially Phoenix. - Then, we dive into our mock offseason completely revealing our free agency signings and other moves made along the way.
- How improved will the Suns roster look by the end of this? This was a very fun episode, Suns fans, so make sure to gobble up all of this great offseason information before it officially begins in a few months!
Gallo at 24/yr? No thanks, I love him, and think he'd be great on the Suns, but
NOT at that price, and especially not at that price
AND giving up Oubre, regardless of the mixed bag-o'-crap that comes back.
The other offseason sucks too.
What's our cap situation looking like next year anyway?
Agreed on Gallinari. I don't want him for anything over 20 million If possible. But he'd definitely be a big get for us, With his friendship with Booker, Aside from his complimentary skillset that he'd bring. As far as Oubre, It really should depend upon whether or not we can feasibly expect to resign him without risks to our long term cap flexibility,
As well as the kind of package/ assets that would be coming back IF he should in fact be traded. I actually kind of like Sam Coopers' offseason proposal of signing Jerami Grant, As I personally think that he'd offer us great defensive versatility, And would be a lower cost to us contractually throughout our critical core extensions as well. Also, Adding Alec Burks isn't that bad of an idea either, Whenst considering our need for a potent bench ( 6th man) scorer. However, I would for my part, maybe switch out Alec Burks with Bryn Forbes or Glenn Robinson 3rd. Also, A very solid consideration would be to sign Bertrans, Or trade for Bjelica( A rich man's Saric) for somewhat cheap if possible. Then look to add defense at the backup 3 ( behind Oubre) with either Tyler Bey or even Paul Reed perhaps? **( I see reed as a versatile defensive playmaker with range from the 3-5. So in that, He could offer great defensive positional switchability, that would/ could compliment Oubres' offensive skillset really nicely. Same with Tyler Bey honestly.
But in the Bertrans scenario, Oubre would play as a small ball 4. Bertrans at the 3, and Bridges at the 2 *( whenst we utilize " Point Book" But could be highly interchangeable together on the court. The point is that there are actually so many possibilities for us to consider with respect to the offseason. As for their projected cap space in 2021, It's difficult to say accurately what with the cap reductions, the cryptic plans of the front office, As well as the undisclosed plans for the roster, And contractual obligations. However,
https://www.spotrac.com/nba/phoenix-suns/cap/2021/Sportrac has indicated that the suns should have something in the area of 15 million with Oubre on the books, And that figure likely doubles to around 30 million or so with him being an unrestricted free agent. So the issue may quite likely become that IF Oubre commands somewhere in the area of 20 million in 2021 free agency, Would it really be prudent or reasonable to resign him for that amount with Ayton very likely due a
MAX EXTENSION that same summer? And then you still have Bridges extension due the following summer too. What happens IF he should have a breakout season that drives up his market value by a large margin? Do we then risk losing Ayton or Bridges in restricted free agency, Due to tight cap restrictions resulting from having to potentially overpay Oubre in order to bring him back.
I'd think that these are strong considerations for our front office, And that they'll be closely monitoring the development of BOTH Bridges and Cam during this 8 game span. Especially IF they can show the ability to offer similar production to that of Oubre for a significantly lower cost. Again with consideration to our looming core extensions. But I guess it all depends upon what Oubres' percieved market value turns out to be ?
