Kaminsky 5,005,350
Payne 1,977,011
Diallo 1,824,003
Okobo 1,663,861

Cap holds for our free agents, if we want to keep them:
Saric 10,445,958 (qualifying offer - 5,087,871)
Baynes 10,361,232
Carter 1,937,273 (qualifying offer - 1,922,425)

So those cap holds cut into the $18m cap space unless renounced don't they?

And if we renounce Baynes, we lose his bird rights?

So basically, unless Baynes wants to stay for the MLE slot, we can't throw all our cap space at a guy like Gallinari without first cutting Baynes (and Saric etc) loose? Is that right?

Very interested to see who Jones picksup this offseason to be our backup 2. I think Jevon and Jerome will still be around so if we get a combo guard like Sato, Dinwiddie, Smart, Kennard, Clarkson. I believe it will be important that this player can fit in with Rubio and Booker to create a strong 3 guard trio with Jevon/Jerome playing around 5-10 a game.

It's hard to say with the 2021 salary cap up in the air. It think the last projection is set at the same number as this year which is $109,140,000.

1.Booker 29,467,800
2. Rubio 17,000,000
3. Oubre 14,375,000
4. Ayton 10,018,200
5. Bridges 4,359,000
6. Johnson 4,235,160
7. Jerome 2,303,040
8. Lecque 1,517,981
9. Pick #10 4,473,720
10. incomplete roster charge 946,543
11. incomplete roster charge 946,543
12. incomplete roster charge 946,543

Guaranteed + cap holds for our draft pick and incomplete roster charges = 90,589,530
Max cap space: 18,550,470
Biggest contract we can offer someone: four-year $78.6M

Team options and non-guaranteed:
Kaminsky 5,005,350
Payne 1,977,011
Diallo 1,824,003
Okobo 1,663,861

Baynes 10,361,232
Carter 1,937,273 (qualifying offer - 1,922,425)

So...can we offer to Saric his qualifying offer ($5M) and then sign a player for around $13M per year?

And AFTER that sign Baynes with our full mid-level exception ($9M) and Carter as a two-year minimun contract (or similar)?

If that's possible we can add to our core a pretty good player via FA.

I thought the exceptions (MLE, LLE etc.) were exceptions to the cap, meaning only teams already over the cap could use them?

I.e. teams under the cap use cap space to acquire players, while teams over the cap have the exceptions to acquire players.

Definitely like a few of those names you listed. I'm just conscious that we may not have the assets or cap for them.

What about Courtney Lee? He's a decent off the ball 3&D combo guard. Other options in our range might be Kent Bazemore, Bryn Forbes, and Alec Burks.

The more I crunch the numbers, the more I think we operate over the cap (retaining cap holds on Baynes, Saric and Carter) giving us the MLE of around $9m to sign a SG-SF. We draft a PG at #10, use Baynes' bird rights to sign him for $25/2 (overpaying to keep him away from other teams' MLE) and wait out Saric and Carter to see what they get as RFAs - possibly matching if they are reasonable, otherwise targeting guys like Augustin and Jeff Green (or even Kaminsky).

Rubio, #10, Carter
Booker, Lee (FA), Jerome
Bridges, Johnson
Oubre, Saric (or Kaminsky)
Ayton, Baynes, FA (BAE)

Definitely a sound strategy man. A few other names for the backup guard/ shooting guard considerations that are intriguing as low cost contributing options through free agency or by way of trade would be:

Free agency-

- Glenn Robinson 3rd.
Has good size at 6'6, And is pretty athletic, And also has solid defensive potential. And is a career 37% 3 pt shooter, With 76% on his free throws.
https://www.espn.com/nba/player/_/id/2991039/glenn-robinson-iii

- Justin Holiday.
Has good size at 6'6. Is a really solid defender with length. Has defensive stopper potential, And is a career 36% 3 pt shooter and hitting on 82% of his free throws.
https://www.espn.com/nba/player/_/id/2284101/justin-holiday

- Jordan Mcrae.
He's got good size at 6'5 with a 7ft wingspan :o is a really good/ crafty microwave scorer with plus athleticism. And is a very active defender with lockdown defensive potential thanks to his wingspan, athleticism and relentless motor. He is a career 35% from three and 77% from the free throw line.
https://www.espn.com/nba/player/_/id/2531797/jordan-mcrae

- Furkan Korkmaz.
Has really good size at 6'7, He's a very good shooter and a crafty scorer around the basket. Not really a strong defender though, But definitely solid enough offensively. He's a career 37% 3 pt shooter and 75% from the free throw line.
https://www.espn.com/nba/player/_/id/3929325/furkan-korkmaz

point Guard-

- Shabazz Napier.
Doesn't have great size at only 6'0. But is lightning quick, really shifty, a very good ISO player, is adept at making big plays and hitting big shots, has a relentless motor and is a defensive menace. Plays with a ton of heart. Just a very solid floor general type. He's a career 34% from three, And 85% from the free throw line.
https://www.espn.com/nba/player/_/id/2530780/shabazz-napier

- Raul Neto.
He's got average size at 6'2. But is a super quick, shifty guard with really good ballhandling skills and good court vision, is a strong perimeter shooter, And is an very good transition scorer as well. He's a career 38% 3 pt shooter and is 78% at the free throw line.
https://www.espn.com/nba/player/_/id/2968361/raul-neto

And by way of trade, I'd look at:

Svi Mikhailiuk.
Good size at 6'7, He's a very savvy player with surprising athleticism and a high basketball IQ he's also a very strong and dynamic perimeter shooter. He's a career 38% 3 pt shooter, And 76% from the free throw line.
https://www.espn.com/nba/player/_/id/3133602/sviatoslav-mykhailiuk

Or if we could somehow still trade for Kriss Dunn and/ or Denzel Valentine, That would also be amazing for our needs. But pretty all of the players mentioned above would be at a very low cost as well, Allowing us to put the majority of our available cap space towards a high level 3 and D veteran power forward option. :D

It's almost like there no deep conspiracy or that Kelly doesn't want to play and it's just that they are be meticulous and making sure he's fully cleared before running him out there :)

So Oubre is now a possibility after ruling himself out earlier?

Oubre will also be rusty as heck. Should be limited minutes until proven he is near back to his early season shape.

Oubre has been working like everybody else. He is playing, his thing was that the med staff had to sign off. The man had surgery, had no real contact after due to lockdown, had no way of knowing internally how it was healing due to no scans and professional medical guidance!!! That's all happening now!!! You also dont want to pull a KD, rush back and completely BLOW SOMETHING OUT!!! Especially in this no win situation. Relax with this conspericy ****, it's simple and on the surface, not deep and mysterious!!
