Is Luguentz Dort a future Defensive Player of the Year

Post#1 » by SpaceCenter » Sat Aug 1, 2020 9:25 pm

Is Luguentz Dort a future Defensive Player of the Year? This guy is built like a linebacker and is probably capable of guarding 1-4 positions. He's extremely quick for his size and has a very high defensive IQ. Outside of Kawhi he is probably my favorite defensive player to watch right now.

Must by why the Thunder have a historically good defense. Oh wait, they don't! That's Milwaukee.

Your comment is going to look really stupid when Giannis wins DPOY.

Team defense vs individual. Raptors are a great defensive team but individually there is no one I would consider elite. Giannis is good but he will get upset like he always does.

The numbers don't suggest he's making an impact. He's only 24th percentile guarding ball handlers (0.98 ppp against) and OKC Drtg isn't any different with him on the bench. Think we need to see more.

Ridiculous thread.

But...

I love Dort. He was my sleeper. Great defender. Good team guy. If his shot develops he's a key player on a contender.

He made the starting lineup as a rookie solely on his defense and he often guards the best player on the oppositions team (he completely shutdown Harden for example). We will have to see more of him but that's the point of the thread is whether he's got the potential or not.

Naw you're just misreading what I am saying. He's a rookie with elite defensive ability and good size. Does he have the potential to become a DPOY? I am not saying he is right now I am saying is he a future contender because he is really good for his age.

Or ya know, a troll thread like this isn't funny when it was legitimately done last night with Trey Burke, but sure, let's make the same joke again!

Don't listen some of these members on here

They just are causal fans and don't know much about players that don't get the spotlight

Was a very good prospect. Never understood why he wasn't considered a 1st rounder. You can improve your perimeter shooting in practice. That kind of athlete should not be available in the 2nd round.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Yeah this is obvious (they shouldn't talk then). He's an undrafted rookie who is in the starting lineup on a playoff team for literally no other reason than his elite defense. If he wasn't good like I am claiming why is he in the starting lineup? He is not great offensively so logically he must be pretty damn good defensively because its pretty hard to make a starting lineup on a playoff squad with bad/average offense.

Will Ndudi Ebi return to the NBA and win Most Improved Player of the Year?

He’s kind of like a poor mans marcus smart as his ceiling. He doesn’t have the passing of smart. He’s a little too short to probably develop to a DPOY type of candidate. Right now he fouls too much. He does look like he was a good find for okc and shouldn’t have went undrafted.
