Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Aug 1, 2020 3:28 am

TNT’s coverage of Thursday night’s NBA Restart – headlined by the Los Angeles Clippers vs. Los Angeles Lakers delivering an average of 3.4 million total viewers – more than doubled the network’s average viewership for a regular season telecast.

The doubleheader scored an average minute audience of 2.9 million viewers across TNT and TV Everywhere platforms, an increase of 109 percent over the average viewership for an NBA game this season (1.4 million viewers).

The Clippers/Lakers game telecast peaked with an average of 4.1 million total viewers from 9:45-10 p.m. ET.

Additionally, TNT’s Inside the NBA garnered its best viewership since the opening week of the 2018-19 NBA season, with an average of 1.3 million viewers. Thursday’s Inside the NBA is up 101 percent when compared with the show’s average telecast earlier this year.

My guess is the vast, vast majority of people that made such statements weren't fans and weren't watching anyway. I never heard anyone actually think that this would have been a serious threat to NBA viewership.

To be fair they could be a majority that never watched NBA in the first place hence as you said irrelevant.. Does it distract from the protests as some have suggested no doubt but the protests need to have political goals otherwise it would never change anything except some company names as long as the cost is zero..

We really need to stop this narrative, laws and policies are changing all over the country.
