What about Justin Holiday? Over 40% from three and a good defender.

He is already 31 years old. Not sure about how much he will get on his next contract.

He is just an option, but probably we will not need to sign anyone with Oubre coming back or whoever we get for him in a trade.

Something I haven't seen discussed much here... interested in peoples thoughts.

Yes, Doncic > Ayton, now and most likely forever

But

In my view, Ayton > Zion, and by that I mean I think long term I'd rather have Ayton. Health, the defense and length, the shooting touch etc.

Maybe its controversial, not sure. Just been thinking about it a bit lately.

We could potentially trade Oubre and something for Hield. Seems he's out of favor in Sac.

This is something I can get behind. A proven player that fits with the rest of our core players. I'm not sure he'd want to take a sixth man role either though, and I'm not sure the Suns could swallow paying someone $25mil to do that.

Interesting take.

Zion's health and conditioning are a concern, that is true.

I'm still bubble high, but yes Doncic > Ayton. Right now....and probably next year too.

But Doncic's ceiling to me is a lot closer to Harden than Lebron.

And Ayton, who has looked like a stud defensively, his ceiling might be closer to a player like Rasheed Wallace or dare I say Garnett.

Give me Ayton on this team, especially with Booker and Rubio.

If/When Oubre and Baynes return, what do we do with them?
I imagine the first return will take all of Kaminsky's minutes. But when both come back, whose minutes to we reduce?
Cam Johnson would be the obvious pick but he's been too good. Teams respect his shot too much and won't close out as they would in the past.
Swapping him for Oubre and that won't work.

How would people feel about going after Bogdon Bogdonovic in free agency?
We'd have to pay him a ton but unless we really trust Payne long term, I'd wonder if he'd make sense.

I know people don't like the idea much but dealing Oubre may be a necessity. We'll be paying Ayton the max and Bridges probably closer to 10-15 mil per if he keeps this up.
I really hope Sarver is willing to spend to keep these guys and build on the team. If not, or he can't afford it due to the economic issues, then sell the F'n team and get someone who can afford to in.

I think some of Carter's minutes because Bridges can play a big Sg. I can see a tall lanky running athletic stretch of Payne orchestrating with Bridges, Cam, Oubre and Baynes or Saric at the 5!! Our bench can be SO STRONG!!

Payne's minutes stay. Saric's too. Ayton gets a little more rest, and Carter and Kaminsky are entirely out imo.

I think Carter's earned a spot back on the roster next year. I'd prefer him a spot deeper on the bench, though. He'll get offers from other teams.

I’ll say this again.... you lock up Saric for 3 yrs. cap space don’t mean ****. You need good players on good deals. That’s how you make good trades.

And the Payne Train ... is he for real??? If so he just bought us flexibility in the draft. Dude is a bomber. Leader of the no no no YES shot category

Rubio, Payne, Carter
Booker, [X-Vassell-Carter]
Bridges, X
Johnson, Saric
Ayton, Baynes

No need to overcomplicate it.

I mean, with the way Payne, Bridges and Saric are playing... I don't know, maybe Kelly could fit in there? That would be the least complicated thing after all. 10 players is a full rotation. I'd still want another wing, and at least one more big better than Tank & Cheick.

Suddenly there doesn't seem to be a wrong way to play this, as long as we don't blow a whole lot of cash this summer.

Oubre could fill that role, but my concern is that in a year's time in the free agency extravaganza of 2021, he is going to price himself out of that role. To me it makes sense to flip him for a guy like LeVert who might not have the ceiling of Oubre, but is cost controlled for the role we need to fill at an average of $17m per/ 3 years.

It even keeps the MLE up our sleeve for anything we need to tweak during the season.

So when does the 2021 season actually start?

After brief encouraging flashes from backup point guards going back forever (Tyler Johnson... Isaiah Caanan... Sebastian Telfair to name just a few from recent eras), I'm just expecting Payne to mysteriously decline early next year to the point that we all turn on him and he becomes completely unplayable. I hope I'm wrong!

I thought about that when I saw it on the trade board, and then I saw Hield's contract. He signed a 4/106 extension.
