I think Lillard is the only reason Stotts is still around. He likely would have been fired after the Memphis sweep, but Lillard went to bat for him. When your super-star loves the coach, that's job security for the coach. I've been ready to see this team under different coaching for quite some time though.

Yep, Lillard and CJ both love Stotts and have backed him big time in the past.

Oh, I think getting in the Western finals last season with a team considered marginal getting in the playoffs at the season beginning. Ditto again this season and several other under Stotts' regime. Yes, Lillard loves playing for him? Do you think Lillard is an idiot or does want to maximize wins?

So...

You think this team needs a SF?

The whole game I was thinking about what a difference it'd make having one of Ariza/Aminu/Harkless playing defense.

Hats off to LeVert...knew he'd be a sleeper coming into the NBA because of his injury. He'll be one of the best SGs in the NBA in a year or two.

I wonder how many games this season the Blazers have blown leads in the 3rd quarter? It's at least 3 or 4 in the Bubble games so far...

He will be. The only reason it would have been Booker possibly (who is very much deserving) is had we lost and Phoenix made the play in.

Yeah, I agree. I think BMVP came down to either guy and it was all up to who got the playoff spot.

Man I wish Ariza was here. The defense would be much better.

And 3 point shooting, rebounding, general scoring, and probably passing. Ariza instead of Hezonja would help a lot.

Melo would've been a reasonable scoring option off the bench too. This team really lacks another one rotation caliber wingman on its roster but there's nothing we can do about that.

Just shows how rough our wing rotation is that we're missing moe hark. The standard that Neil has set for our wing players has been going down since he got here. Gets worse every year

If we cut Ariza to save money, we absolutely should go after Harkless in FA. He would be a godsend, and a Hood / Hark rotation at SF would be a good ying / yang IMO. Then we could potentially use our FRP on a true backup PG rather than have to draft by need.

Mo's DBPM of 1.7 the last two years in Portland would be nearly a full point higher than our best guy from this season. He fills a HUGE need. The below would be a simple, affordable offseason: Harkless for a portion of MLE, Melo for the other portion, resign Hassan to a 10M/1 deal, draft a competent PG, draft a C to groom as Nurkic backup, run it back with better defense hopefully:

G - Damian Lillard / FRP / Anfernee Simons
G - CJ McCollum / Gary Trent Jr / Anfernee Simons
F - Mo Harkless / Rodney Hood / Nassir Little
F - Zach Collins / Carmelo Anthony / Weynen Gabriel
C - Jusuf Nurkic / Hassan Whiteside / SRP

Simple and affordable.

I said the exact same thing. Mo was a good fit for this team, good defender, efficient on offense. Dude shot 59/35 while here.

if we cant getter better player than harkless, id like to have him back

he was inconsistent with his effort, but when hes engaged, hes solid player, likes cutting to the basket on those nurk passes and would bring defense... nurk needs all help he can get and i hope collins improves next season

harkless/hood would be comination of offense and defense

I thought exactly the same, maybe there offense was not so good but Aminu/Hark could play some D, would not mind at all having Hark back on a friendly contract

Agreed about it being cheap...I don't think that small of a move helps the Blazers in what will be a killer Western conference next year. Lakers, Clips, OKC, Rockets, Denver will likely still be good. And young teams like Phoenix, Jazz, Mavs, Spurs, Grizz, and New Orleans will be better with continuity. Kings even showed some life this season. And lets not forget about a healthy Golden State team...there could literally be 14 really good teams in the West next year.

I also think people are expecting too much from Hood. He was a good 3pt shooter, decent mid range shooter with elevation, and average defender before one of the most destructive injuries in basketball. I think it's reasonable to hope that his 3pt shooting is the one thing he will be able to contribute next season. And even that--I'm more inclined to think he'll regress back to his 7 season average of 37% than stay anywhere close to his last season mark of 49%.

The Blazers/Okshey need to capitalize on Lillard's notoriety right now. Utilize the BAE or whatever those are called and the TPE. Now is the time to spend money. It's now or never. Time to go all in. Make some serious trades involving anyone not named Lillard & Nurkic.
