Pretty impressed with Trent jr he’s definitely their highest IQ player
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Who was REALLY the miscast Player on the Raptors? That would be the question.
Both JV and Derozan are very good players and great offensively, but they are liabilities defensively.
JV is a great 1 on 1 defender and rebounder, but can get exposed easily on the pick and roll.
Derozan has always been a below average defender.
Our team has very good defenders at every position, we have no weakness. Siakim is not on the level that Demar was in terms of creating his own shot, but he is a better 3 point shooter and is elite in transition. Demar and JV's offense was replaced by guys like Fred, Siakim and Gasol's play making.
So end of the day we didn't really get worse offensively, but our defense now is arguably the best in the league. This is what differentiates from a team that can't really beat the elite of the elite to a team now that will battle every single night even if we can't shoot well.

Re: NBA is Officially Back (Official Thread)
In a way I feel the whole Portland situation was unfair. The team that played before the break was very different after the break.
Their line-up now
Lillard
McCollum
Anthony
Collins
Nurkic
Bench
Trent
Whiteside
Hezonja
Before
Lillard
McCollum
Anthony
Bazemore / Ariza
Whiteside
Bench doesn't even matter.
Before they were New Orleans level and now they're OKC level at least. IF they had Ariza they might be Houston level.

JV was a +12 in the game. Ja Morant was a -15. Ja's defense is not as bad as Trae Young, but close. Rookie should grow from his 8 assist / 8 turnover game.

What would be the worst possible finals matchup from a US TV network ratings perspective?
Raptors Blazers? Raptors Jazz? Raptors OKC?

Man, Morant played his heart out. Heck all of Memphis did. Solid stuff to build around imo.

Magic/Jazz. At least fans find our style of play exciting/interesting and we have a player that some fans love to hate in Kyle Lowry.
Who wants to see Vucevic battle Gobert as the main attraction?

Maybe it was Casey the whole time
Whatever gripes we had over the years with our budding prospects should all be redirected towards Casey. Seeing what Nurse is doing to the team makes me truly wonder how our young guys would have developed. Casey's ability to pigeon hole players into roles they're not suited for is remarkably baffling. And the most blatant example actually isn't either Jonas nor DeMar, but Serge Ibaka. He was the most infuriating and divisive player on that 2017-18 squad prior to the playoffs. I just couldn't understand why the **** he kept sitting on the perimeter, and then driving to the hoop, and lose the ball 90% of the time. Nurse purged that out of Ibaka's role, and boy what a drastic difference it made. Casey tried making Ibaka play like he's Dirk Nowitzki, and stubbornly didn't change a single thing when it was obvious a quarter way into the season it wasn't working.

Re: NBA is Officially Back (Official Thread)
really curious to see how the Lakers are going to cover Lillard, but then if it is to watch Dame take 15+ 3s I cant see the Blazers being a threat(Dame needs to attack the paint imo in that particular matchup)...out of his 15 shots yesterday, 14 of them were 3s!!! that's crazy to me.

Oh ok ok.
I thought it was everyone playing all on the same court and in the same building.
