Re: 2020 NBA Draft prospects
My first post. Rosas likes shooters and assets. He wants to trade the 1st pick who falls in love with either Ball, Wiseman or Edwards. With reports Golden State wants Wiseman, hopefully there is a taker for him. Hopefully we can trade the pick where we can pick Vassel and assets. The best 3 and D prospect. And hopefully we can trade the 17th pick Johnson and Okogie for Gordon. By signing Beasly and Juancho will leave us in the playoff hunt. Which will give us enough assets to get our
big 3 and lead us to deep in the playoffs to give Golden State a pick in the 20s. Thats what i hope will happen

Re: 2020 NBA Draft prospects
I wonder why there's been very little mention of Aaron Nesmith. In 14 games this year he made 60 3s out of 115. That's 52.2%. He's 6'6" so tall enough to get his shot off. He's listed as a forward so he could get him minutes at SF where we need somebody. He might make it to pick 17, but probably not.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft prospects
Obviously pick 1 will dictate what we do at 17, but Jaden McDaniels is really coming on strong for me. Yes, he could be a bust and has weaknesses and there will probably be safer picks at 17. However, his ability to handle, shoot, and defend at the three with his length is a gamble I am willing to take. Unless there are major underlying attitude issues, he would be an excellent developmental player who may be ready sooner than later. His rotation and on ball defense is solid, though mostly playing zone we don't see a ton of one on one d, the amount we do see is promising.

I have watched some of him and wouldn't be disappointed in picking him. His height is obviously not ideal, but not sure on the wingspan and he seems solid/strong. Kind of seems like a better shooting Kelan Martin if I am being honest. Which, again, you can never have too many shooters.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft prospects
Dane Moore of Zone Coverage does some very good analysis of the draft prospects. He often disagrees with me and he has somewhat got me to change my mind on a couple players. Here he is doing Haliburton and Nesmith. I come away liking Haliburton a bit less.
https://zonecoverage.com/2020/podcasts/dane-moore-nba-podcast-how-tyrese-haliburton-and-aaron-nesmith-would-fit-the-timberwolves-w-will-deberg/
He also did Okongwu in another and I came away liking him a bit less also. Try the first link and you'll find others.

Welcome to the boards!
Interesting rumor that GSW wants Wiseman. If true, maybe we could get a little something swapping down one spot. It wouldn’t be much, and they may just dare us to draft him, but the risk to the Warriors is that we might draft him to trade him to a different team.
Since it’s GSW, we have additional options. For example, we could ask GSW to expand the protections on our 2021 to Top 6, or make it Top 3 protected for two years.

Make the 2021 wolves pick lotto protected and
maybe exhange Evans for Pachall and they can have the Number one pick (wiseman) if not they can kick rocks.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft prospects
Here's the Podcast going very in depth on Edwards and Wiseman.
https://zonecoverage.com/2020/podcasts/dane-moore-nba-podcast-how-anthony-edwards-james-wiseman-would-fit-the-timberwolves/
I'm listening now. I hope I don't fall asleep on it.
I've got to face the possibility that the people who like Edwards aren't totally stupid. That's going to be hard for me LOL. I'm going to try to listen with an open mind.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft prospects
Their review of Edwards was pretty much the things I've been hearing all around. They excuse his poor shooting percent due to taking terrible shots. They think on the Wolves that he will no longer be the primary ball handler so he won't be forcing so many shots. As for Defense they say when motivated he can actually bring it, but he's motivated for defense only in the big games against Kentucky or such. They excuse his lackadaisical defense on being 18. It's possible he could be great. I've got to just hope for that on the chance that we take him.

I think Beasley will be 6th man.
Yeah you don't bring the #1 pick off the bench. If we draft...
oh my, history repeats like a dagger.
History lesson #1. Wiggins #1 overall. (We must start him!/Can't play off bench!/Make LaVine 6th man!) Epic Fail.
History lesson #2. Already have Rubio. (Dunn! and he should start 10 games in!/Culver! starting PG!) Epic Fails.
History lesson #3. OKC Harden. Zero starts in first season. 7 starts over three OKC seasons. 6th man! Getting minutes without having to start against starters. Less pressure. Carrot to improve and earn starting job over time. Becomes...greatness?
minimus' idea sort of doable if that's their choice. neeva/southern wolf...No. Virtual slap. Wake up. We've already made coffee. Shake it off.

Re: 2020 NBA Draft prospects
This was near the end of June.
What happens when someone lifts every morning 6days a week and then plays video games. If he's never lifted like this before, he's going to see gains. Will be interesting to see if it impacts his shooting in a bad way or not, but sounds like he's shooting each night so maybe not. Could be a beast by November, or just another ripped twig.
In an interview with Jonathan Givony of ESPN, former Iowa State forward Tyrese Haliburton said he has been working out three times per day and has made noticeable gains.
I’m in Milwaukee, working three times per day. I get up in the morning and go lift. After that I eat, then I do a basketball workout around noon. Free until 7 or 8 p.m. Usually, I make calls, play video games and rest until the evening. Then I have another shooting workout. … The gains I’ve made with my body will impress people. It’s been six days a week in the weight room for two months basically. I’ve never lifted like this before.

Toppin, if you have 15 minutes to blow. Don't skip the negatives that start around 7 minutes in. Interesting how much you miss in his highlight reels.

2020 NBA Draft prospects
Well on the plus side, if you go to ants Instagram and watch today’s story, an hour ago he posted a pic of himself in a wolves 5 jersey with a green/blue heart and fire emojis next to it.
Doesn’t sound we’ll get then “I’m not playing there” drama that other prospects sometimes leak

It's cool that he wants to go #1 and come here. Warriors would be a lot more glamorous. Charlotte not glamorous, but better weather. Chicago quite glamorous.
Can you share the link? I went to his instagram, but I either don't know how to find the picture and story you spoke of or it just isn't there.

What exactly do you mean by this? Is Richmond his ceiling and Richardson his floor? Or do you see him as more similar to Richmond than to Richardson?
Richmond was one of the best shooters in the league.

If he became Mitch Richmond, he’d be the second best Timberwolf of all time.

Without a doubt. Hopefully he wouldn't destroy his life with alcoholism like Mitch did. He'll never be the shooter that Mitch was, but he's superior athletically.

I don't see the comparison to Mitch Richmond at all. He looks like Isaiah Rider to me (minus the heavy drug habit).
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
