Seemed like he was being wary of saying anything bad about Brett (beyond what's already out there) and ripping their management structure and kinda deflecting from Elton. I only caught the tail end though, so I'll have to see if it's up on their website later

Kinda wonder if they'll clean house of the Colangelo crew, keep Elton, and hire a president of basketball operations above him (or give a coach that power)

Keith has always carried water for the organization. I don't get the point of keeping Elton. He's an empty suit. Just a figurehead for their collaborative process.

Writing on the wall all season. Only a matter of time. Unfortunate, really.

EB made the situation worse by signing Toby and Horford to those massive ship anchor sinking deals.

Jimmy was probably Ben's best shot at someone who would light a fire under him and make the developments he needs to reach his potential. Jimmy told JJ that he and Ben had no problems, personally, and that Jimmy's end of game on ball dominance was a quick fix for the end of the 2019 season, but he expected a more carefully crafted offensive scheme going into the next year.

It's totally clear that Butler was willing to come back, and Ben (and obviously Joel) wanted him back.

Not sure about what Brown really wanted.

However the front office decided not to bring him back, and decided instead to sign Horford and Harris. This meant they also could not sign Redick since they had to renounce his rights for the cap to sign Horford.

A big reason why that no one is talking about was likely to SAVE MONEY. They chose the CHEAP option.

It would have cost more money to run it back.

All you front office apologists who justified stupid move after stupid move because "it doesn't matter if the owners are willing to pay" need to EAT CROW.

No owner is willing to pay the ridiculous amounts of luxury tax it would have taken to keep the team together and run it back. There's ALWAYS a budget.

When you burn money for the wrong players, that money is now NOT available for other players.

They probably NEVER intended to bring Butler back, which is why they did the stupid Harris trade.

And of course the EB detractors will blame him for Jimmy leaving and pretend to be deaf to the fact that JIMMY HIMSELF said that after the Toronto game had finished he knew he wasn't coming back!!..but somehow "that's EB's fault" SMH!!.

Everybody knows this. Brett played a huge part in letting Jimmy go, bringing Horford and trading/resigning Tobias. He's one of the brillant minds who assembled this pathetic team. He and Brand, and the whole FO should be fired inmediatly.

Looking back, Hinkie probably understood that this is where the Sixers would end up. When ownership planted elder snake Colangelo on his shoulder, they already began interfering with basketball decisions. This continued over the years and what you see now is a result of that interference. A puppet for GM and a coach who is being scapegoated. Once again, Hinkie held the longest view of anyone in the room.

Yeah, i always thought Ben and Jimmy dind't get along. Ben is more of a pat my back guy.

Joel and Jimmy on the hand were a great fit chemistry wise. We should have kept Jimmy and Joel together and trade Simmons for another star perimeter player. Don't resign Tobias and use Horford money in a strecht 4.

Brett is a yes man, Jimmy is a no man, they are polar opposites when it comes to accepting others BS.
Pretty straightforward.

There are numerous examples that can be pointed out. "Brett hates confrontation," a former Sixers colleague said. When he has confronted people, it's rarely been the players themselves.

"Why the f--k isn't he shooting?" he'd ask assistants after summer scrimmages during Simmons' first couple of seasons in the league.

"We're all going to get fired because Joel's out of shape!" he shouted once late last year at the team's medical staff after a stretch where Embiid had missed more than a dozen games.

This season, Brown tried using the media to nudge Simmons. "You can pass this along to his agent, his family, his friends and him: I want one three-point shot a game, minimum," he told reporters following a December game in which Simmons made just his second three-pointer of the season. Simmons, who was irked by the comment, responded to Brown's plea by not launching a single three-pointer (excluding end-of-clock heaves) over his next 25 games.

How do you get to that point in your life where you can't just approach the dude and have a heart to heart about his future? Why do this passive aggressive stuff?

It's kind of funny seeing the hackery being done through someone like Pompey or a place like bleacher report and meanwhile people like Hollinger and Lowe are rightfully laying the blame all around.

Even if it's true the problem starts from the top. Pat Riley would never allow that. The coach is one of the most expendable persons on the team. He cant really confront a star unless the management backs him up and gives him that power.

It’s unfair.

But like the previous post, how can you win when you can ask a player to do what you want them to do? I also find Biid to have poor conditioning. But I know that some people here are OK with that given his “300lbs 7’ frame”

You build a roster around Biid and Ben, expecting both guys will improve. But Ben has been the same player while Biid’s defense has been on a decline in the last 3 seasons.

Will the Lakers have any problems if their 3rd and 4th best players are Tobias and Horford, behind AD and LeBron?

It’s been reported (Pompey) that our guys also need some growing up to do. They’ve been treated like stars since their rookie year. Ask Ben why he won’t shoot and he’ll reply that he’s an allstar and you don’t have any rights to demand for more.

If you ask me, from a fellow fan’s opinion, we still expect both Biid and Ben to be at some point as good as AD and LeBron. And we know we’re not going to get that from Brett. So if you can see, we’re looking at Lue. Lue has experience from Bron so Ben might listen to Lue’s demands.

The coach we’re looking now is more than just X&Os. It’s more of who can be a leader that these guys can respond to in order to reach their potential.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.
