When im not lazy I plan on watching highlights of him and SGA in college and look for similarities. I already know Haliburton is a better shooter even right now.

What Tyrese Haliburton did last summer:

Member of the 2019 USA Basketball U19 National Team that captured the gold medal with a perfect 7-0 record at the 2015 FIBA U19 World Championship in Heraklion, Greece. Played and started in all seven games, averaged a team-high 24.7 minutes, 7.9 points, 2.4 rebounds, a team-best 6.9 assists and 2.3 steals a game. Shot a team-best 68.8 percent from the field and a team-best 55.5 percent (10-18) from 3-point. 2019 FIBA U19 World Cup All-Tournament Team

(clear leader of a team that included consensus future stars Cade Cunningham, Jalen Green, Evan Mobley, and more)

why is a 20 yo like Haliburton considered a reach at 3 when Edwards and Ball project unlimited potential?

according to Basketball-Reference, he became the first player in NCAA history to average more than 15 points, five boards and six dimes while shooting over 50% from the floor and 40% from 3-point range (while attempting more than five treys per game)

Hes also still only 20 for those who don't like drafting older prospects. I have no idea why he isn't higher in mock drafts. Maybe because he doesn't have an earth shattering vertical or do behind the back between the legs passing like Lamelo? Beats me.

Sorry, big Arrested Development fan.

I agree on Haliburton. I think I actually used to be bigger on Haliburton than Hayes and just recently got the two confused. I also thought Haliburton was older.

I'm off Team Hayes and on Team Haliburton.

I'm done drafting crazy athletic specimens who struggle with the actual game of basketball. Give me more PJ Washingtons or a Haliburton who seem to do everything at an above average to good/great level.

The most impressive part of his game during FIBA U19 is the fact that his assists come with almost no turnover. I ve noticed he has been a bit more turnover prone this season, but for me he runs the point under control, unlike many prospects (and unfortunaltey Hayes has this default, not taking care of the ball).
I v never seen any comparison between him and Billups, but for me there is something like this in their style. Even though i would still pick Edwards if he is available. Since this league is all about stats.

Just saw this guy has a 7 foot wingspan. Is that legit?

Seems like the best guard on the board to me.

He gives me slight Delon Wright vibes watching him play. I think he is going to be a good player, not sure he is a starting NBA point guard tho.

And his defense is actually legit af too

Since Haliburton and Hayes happen to be joined at the hip as the top point guard prospects after Lamelo:

Scoring: Hayes without question. It's probably his strength in my opinion, until his passing discipline improves. Unfortunately, it's a weakness in Haliburton's case.

Three-point shooting: Haliburton at this time. He certainly has the percentages, but not the volume. It seems the high percentage is down to shot discipline, he has a problem with defenders in front of him and he knows it.

Passing: Haliburton, mainly from his discipline. Hayes can make the same kind of passes, just he tries some he shouldn't, leading to a turnovers problem.

Defense: Haliburton. Not that Hayes is bad, but it seems Haliburton wants to be a 3-and-D guy on top of being a playmaker.

Something unexpected though, it seems both Hayes and Haliburton suffer from a handedness issue. Strange how these two almost mirror each other, down to their strengths and flaws.

Hopefully we're never relying on this guy to ISO at the top of the key with zero motion lol

edit:^ I don't see how they've got that much in common tbh. i guess i'm just more on the fence regarding strengths and emphasis on scoring here. I don't think Hayes is gonna get away with much at all even though he tries to be that guy whereas I look at Haliburton and see a more assertive version of George Hill

It's just that it happens more than once what's a strength for one is a weakness for the other. Then the handedness, with Hayes' weak right hand and Haliburton's weak left.

I like George hill and he can definitely help a team, but if that’s his ceiling that doesn’t really excite me.

Solid chance at George Hill ++ is a good find in this draft. There probably is a better player or two somewhere this year, but there are going to be a ton of team misses & busts.
My picks:
2020 Draft (3rd pick) - Tyrese Haliburton, Devin Vassell, or Onyeka Okongwu
2021 Draft (11th pick) - Moses Moody

I think that if you walk away from this draft with a more assertive version of George Hill, you do it...

The 'high risk/high reward' guys don't even project to franchise players

Watching him play, it seems like gets the most out of his abilities. I just have a hard time seeing him being an NBA starter at this point, not sure exactly what it is... he reminds me of Delon Wright or Monte Morris- a good backup.

If he does become a starter I could see him being a Jeff Teague or Spencer Dinwiddie level player, but I don’t see a high ceiling.
