That's a big jump you made by saying people don't want police. People want reform. For example, in my city, 43% of the general fund goes toward the police department. That is a very large percentage dedicated to this public service. Very few dollars go to address the issues of homelessness, mental health, job education programs, etc that would go towards helping reduce crime. Obviously nobody wants crime. But the system we have now has major problems that need to be reformed. So politicians need to be willing to take a hard look at it instead of just stumping for a vote by saying "I'm tough on crime".

Yeah ! Less money, less training = more crime, more deaths

If I am a Police Officer I would ignore calls now! The way they are treated is beyond belief. Reform! Let's sent a counselor into a domestic violence call! Yeah, that is a smart call.

Look at the cities defunding police. All democratic ran cities with the most police brutality cases

Hate to say it, but everyone wants BIDEN. This is giving Trump the edge with all the BS going on.

Functionally speaking, there is no ultra-left presence within the United States. By observation, let's use the American political scale and denote the two largest "left" factions are progressives and neo-liberals. Neither of these can we define as ultra-left. The major policy platform that the progressive wing of the party advocates does not really advocate for anything you could define as ultra-left. Their platform being staunchly against climate change, health care reform, etc.. As such, neo-liberals, being to the right of the progressives, by logic therefore are not ultra-left.

In terms of the media, progressive media in the United States, or really, anything left of the neo-liberal block, has ostensibly no mainstream presence. They are limited to websites and online media. They are growing, but they do not reach nearly as many people still as mainstream sources do. CNN and MSNBC, the two major broadcasting networks, that are typically thought of as "left", are incredibly pro-neo-liberal.

Don't try to correct my wording on my quote. This is really bad what you did. To be clear I said I am tired of the ultra-liberal left and ultra-conservative right running our media and country. You don't have to agree with me but CNN and Fox are two of the worst networks in promoting opinion shows as news.

The crazy ultra-conservatives that run the state here Arizona are a hot mess too. That is an example of what I mean by the extremist running our country. Many states have local governments that have swung way too far left or right. States run most of our country because they are the ones who gerrymander voting boundaries and have put the crazies in DC. See Kelly "Contrail" Ward.

See my post above yours. It is important to understand the political makeup of the United States' left wing before you can say things about the existence of an ultra-left media.

If I knew how to post a gif this would be a great spot for the Grandpa Simpson in and back out the door one as my reaction to opening this thread.

That's too bad because apathy and ignoring the problem is the reason why the U.S. revisits this issue every 60-70 years.

This is, after all, fair game for the NBA playoff discussion as it has directly impacted the games.

Do they even know what they mean by voting? Do they realize BIDEN was a VP for 8 years with OBAMA and politician for 47 years. He passed a police reform bill, Kamala prosecuted a lot of people. Do they even know what they are talking about when they say just vote.

I do not think they have a plan or know what they want.

What the hell is going on. For it to end “ugly”, I’m guessing players are disagreeing with one another about how they’re going about this?

Long story short: While it seems the players are in favor of what is going (boycotts), Lebron and CP3 are annoyed that the Bucks did it without clearing it with them/NBPA. They felt like they were blindsided.

Having no police isn't the answer. Having better police is a start

Just a clumsy attempt at some brevity on my part.

You're right that ignoring these issues has contributed to the problem and I think cops in this country shoot far too many people.

I hope NBA players can inspire some change but I do worry about the unintended consequences if they stop the season and the CBA gets voided.

No worries. Its a traction thing and to me people need to discuss these issues, even if we disagree, so that things improve.
