- OG really shored up all aspects of his game this season. Rebounding, handles/attacking, and off ball movement. He's looking like more than 3 and D. Great strides. A complete player.
- Siakam basically in a sophomore slump wasn't going to turn around his game during these playoffs. Needs an offseason retool and new approach. Really impressive what the team did considering that would be a recipe for a sweep like disaster for other teams (see last year's Celtics collapse against the Bucks).
- FVV: it was important that his physical limitations were exposed in these playoffs. Too many people (including likely the front office) were still clinging to the "slump" narrative for last year's Sixers/Bucks series. Crucial to not make a massive overpay for what's expected of a contender. He should not be sniffing 20 mil.
I saw these playoffs as good development time for some guys. Disappointed we didn't get to see more Davis even though it's understandable.
how do you justify not giving Fred 20 mill after giving pascal a 130 million dollar contract when Fred has had a bigger impact in the playoffs. It makes no sense. We don’t beat Golden State without Fred.
That's easy. You are not paying Pascal for the impact he had these playoffs, which would be somewhere around an MLE level player. You are paying him for what he showed at the start of this season (and last year's playoffs run), which earned him an all star spot and being picked in the game by Giannis. You are betting that he will continue to exceed those levels based on potential after a down half-season.
On the other hand, we now have two sets of playoff runs where Fred has been severely limited against size/good d entirely explained by the fact that's he's undersized, unathletic and not skilled enough to overcome it.
That is a hard ceiling for Fred in the games that matter. You pay for the games that matter. And for Fred that means not getting a dime over 15 million.
