Hayward returned to the bubble on Sunday after a couple of weeks home in Boston, but he has not been cleared to play and likely won't appear again unless the Celtics advance to the conference finals. Hayward originally planned to leave the bubble for the birth of his son sometime in September, but his wife, Robyn, posted a message on social media suggesting that now that he is back in Orlando, he's there to stay: "Next time we see you you won't be the only boy."

Grade 3 sprains can often linger for months, not weeks, because they frequently entail ligament damage, swelling and mobility issues. In addition, Ainge said, Hayward's ankle sprain also damaged a nerve, leaving him in excruciating pain until it finally calmed down.

"It was pretty tough those first five, six days," Ainge said.

Ainge remains optimistic Hayward will have time to contribute.

She could have meant it like “next time we see you you won’t be the only boy because another one will be in the process of being birthed from my womb.”

Ya I said this somewhere else but it feels like a lot of people are drawing conclusion based off a social media post, which is never a good idea. He was originally planning on attending the birth, immediately after the injury that didn't seem to have changed. Maybe watching the team play well without him has changed his mind? But its the birth of your kid, I kind of doubt he's gonna miss it.

Well, well, well. He's on schedule for 4 weeks.
If he can make it back before the Finals. We could use him against Miami.

4 weeks would be this coming Monday 9/14, given that he's just getting out of quarantine Friday and is still building strength in his ankle it seems like the earlier range of his timeline might be a little optimistic.

Of course its also not entirely clear when the ECF would even begin. Even if the c's win today I don't know how soon the league would start the series with both Western Semi's still ongoing. Maybe this coming weekend sometime?

So all said, hard to tell how much of the MIA series he will miss. My guess is at least some. Then there's the baby factor.

Yeah. It's looking like he may come back for a bit, during the Miami Series.
He'll likely leave again, for the Birth. Hopeful the LA's go to 7 games.

That should give Hayward some time to get back for the Finals.

For sure, I think even without Hayward for MIA the C's could compete. Not saying for sure they'd win, but it would be possible. Against either LA team I think they need him to have a real chance.

Of course first things first, finish the raptors tonight so we can hopefully get a break before the ECF.

Hayward did not look good to me tonight shooting around but it’s still encouraging. I remember feeling like I had a cement block attached to my ankle for weeks after my most severe ankle sprain and that is what Gordon looked like. Will he be ready by Tuesday? I doubt it but I do think he will play in the series.

~1 week. If he were Marcus, he'd have played last night. Not my opinion.

He was wearing a mask last night, so we don't know if he shaved the stache or not.

Cs never seem to be forthcoming about injuries. I don't know if Stevens is saying Hayward will come back this series because he actually will or he is just saying that to try and throw the Heat off somehow.
