Which fantasy is more delusional? Trading up into the top 2 only using the assets of #8, Knox, Frank, and DSJ? Or the scenario of drafting Deni, Kira, and Pokusevski at our 3 draft slots?

Kira, the 6’3 fast PG who plays for 37 minutes a game fits Thibs style the most.

That may be true be he also has a high turnover rate and a very poor ast-turnover ratio aND Still working on basic fundamentals of being a point guard. He might not get much minutes under thibs then again who knows thibs has worked with a lot of rosters that had bigger expectations than what he’s walking into with the Knicks.

Equally delusional, neither being possible, but one could fantasize.

Yes, on Nesmith at 8 or trade down for him. If we don’t, I’ll torture this place forever. Forget Bertans. Just draft Nesmith and use that money to fill another need.

NAY-smith. Say it his name! NAY-smith.

Yeah, I like McDaniels a lot with our later pick. Him or Woodard II.

Hell no! What are you watch? Kira we like... but he is no where near the ball handler or shot creator Fox is. He's two levels down actually. Kira doesn't even shoot the hize step back shot on the regular, which most top NBA pg shoot about 5-10x a game. Fox is way better than Kira now. Kira is mostly a fast straight line driver, first step guy with shooting/C&S range potential. Passing and floor management he is not on Fox level as yet. Also Kira can be very lazy on defense and gets beat alot.

Honestly most of these young pg in the draft don't have advance NBA first or secondary moves to create separation yet. People including scouts are evaluating them mostly base off age and predictions on getting better, which doesn't always work out. Some 19/20yr olds just don't advance or get much more better than they all are now. Hopefully that's not the case with Kira.

But No he is not on Fox level now. If Kira was starting today in the NBA he is more Darius Garland than Fox right now.

I think alot of you all need to watch guys like Lillard, CJ, Curry, K.Walker and watch their shot creation and spacing moves.. and then look at the PG's in this draft. You all will realize most of these guy for what they are now aren't even close to those and others in the NBA. Plus their Passing and Defense intensity is two levels above most of these PG's in the draft. Remember they are high on draft boards based on having 19/20yr old potential and future predictions, not mostly on actually play.

Idk about best player in the draft but could definitely be the best player left at 8. Im on board but would definitely prefer to trade back for him. One scenario I've heard from a fan mind you is trading back from 8 with Spurs for Derreck White and 11, where Nesmith should still be.

New mock. They have us taking Kira @ #8 passing on Nesmith, Vassell, Okoro and Cole. - I wouldn’t take Kira here. My first choice would be Okoro, even though I want us to find a way to get Nesmith

They also have us taking Ramsey @ #27 - this pick I completely agree with.

I dont think we are missing out on who we want at 8. Jazz literally spotted D Mitch and went for him and traded up. I expect us to do the same with Perrin on board. I think we know exactly what we want and have a back up plan.

My 3 favorite prospects in terms of need at 8

Kira
Vassel
Nesmith

After looking at some tape on Okoro, I was surprised when I saw the nice form of his jump shot. The mechanics look good. But so did Ron Baker’s.

As for Vassell, he’s an elite defender. He does that very well. I would put him and Okoro on the same level. Right now, Vassell is the better shooter and Okoro the better finisher.

I think Vassell is "safer" in terms of fit and instant impact but I don't think he ends up having the potential to impact the game as much as Okoro can. Okoro is much more skilled and I think is every bit the defender that Vassell is even if he is a bit smaller.

If the Knicks were in a position where they had their offensive engine figured out and had a core of 4-5 guys who I know would be here for the next 5 years and be contributors to the next good Knicks team, i'd be all on board with taking Vassell. However I think the Knicks have to take BPA who is preferable a wing or guard at 8 this year and worry about fit later. To me no matter what happens in the first 7 picks Vassell is not the best available at 8. The ceiling isn't there and even as a safe pick he's a non needle mover in my opinion. You're getting a guy who in most drafts would go 15-20 and instantly diminishing the value of your own asset.

If the Knicks are in a position where they are talking themselves into Vassell they should just trade down.

vassel is plug and play at the 2. I am intrigued because as much as we need shooting we need to get back to the knicks ways, defense.

Frank
Vassel
RJ
Mitchell

For example has a ton of potential defensively. However, the thing is we can go all defense because the kids are limited and still need to show consistency.
If we draft a Nesmith or Kira we are looking to plug those guys in. Nesmith has potential on D while Kira is good all around on offense. Tough decision.

Word. This Kira hype started in earnest like 2 weeks ago. He's gone from mid-teens to the best all-around point guard in the draft.

From the film I've seen, he's a little lazy defending the pick and roll in college, imagine in the Pros where dudes are going to blast him on picks.
Even a smaller Tyrell Terry is better at recovering from picks than Kira, with a much much better shot.

Who dat? If this is true, looks like they've done their due diligence Cole, Hayes and both the boy from Florida State. I'm glad they're not going crazy on trying to draft a guard and they've broadened their search.

I am sure they are doing their homework on everyone. Seems like they are just making their way back around to Florida State.

You know how many players boosted their value during March madness or only a few weeks/days before the draft? I remember Donavan Mitchell rising off workouts.
DeAaron Fox rised in a few games during the tourney.
Russell Westbrook wasn’t protected a top 10 pick a week before the draft. You acting like you know where all these dudes are supposed to be slotted, especially in this current pandemic situation, & it’s just not accurate.

You would hope  but these 4 are the ones that have had some sort of confirmation in the press. This rando with team FSU, Begley with Cole, and French Knicks pod with Hayes. I think Begley also said that there are Vassell fans in the organization too. So maybe they're starting to narrow down their list of favorites?
