blowing 3-1 lead is always worse. lol get outta here
It’s bad but Kawhi wasn’t the problem. Raps looked poor in their series too if we are being honest, quite flattering it went to 7. and if nugggets give a good fight to the lakers it’ll look better in hindsight.
But 3-1 is bad, yes

No way the Raptors would blow a 3-1 lead. Nurse would never let it happen.
We've made it.
We've made it.

I get why he did it. Clippers on paper made sense but it's crazy to me that he didn't want to at least try to defend the title. Nice thing is, going forward, this should be be part of every pitch Masai does to big time FAs after we acquire them.

The point is that we wouldnt have been force feeding the ball to Pascal possession after possession if we had Kawhi. The defense wouldnt be loading up on him and hed actually have space to operate and wouldnt be facing the other teams best defender every possession. We saw what this team can do with Kawhi, he left for the unknown and the grass definitely wasnt greener.

When that happens, Kawhi will have piissed off three fanbases (SAS, TOR, LAC).
So you mean 2 fanbases

This season it wasn’t greener, but the raps looked quite poor in their series too. I don’t think watching that series would make you feel “man, I wish I could play with those guys” nurse coached a terrible series.
But I do think if Kawhi stayed raps would’ve gone to the finals as the east is a little weak this year

Re: Kawhi didn't believe Toronto would repeat
Kawhi wanted to go home badly, but also wanted to eat his cake too orchestrating that Paul George trade. Part of me feels he did underestimate the talent on the Raptors team.
2019 Eastern Conference All Stars
Derozan
Lowry
Ibaka
Valanciunas
Van Vleet
Delon Wright
Lebron
Embiid
There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

Re: Kawhi didn't believe Toronto would repeat
Kawhi didn't realize three things:
1) Chemistry and culture is huge.
2) Fred, Pascal and OG would continue to grow.
3) Lowry is the consummate championship sidekick.
Yeah the Clippers had the most talent in the league, but they are not built well. Beverly and Lou aren't true point guards that can effectively run an offense. Further, Paul George isn't a high IQ player who fits well with him. Yeah on paper the Clippers looked like the favorite, but it was not a well constructed team.

I agree with a lot of your points especially that clippers are poorly constructed, but Siakim took several steps back this year in the playoffs especially, and FVV wasn’t even half as good as last years playoffs from the ecf onward. Og is good though

People have to remember that Kawhi has been spoiled his entire career.
He came to the best organization in the league led by the greatest core in the league with the greatest coach in the league who slowly groomed into the player he became. Pops, Duncan, Manu and Parker are some of the best professionals in the league.
Then he got traded to an established contender that had just won 59 games and built a winning culture over 5 seasons.
He's never come to a team that did not have a winning culture and pedigree like he had with us and the Spurs.
