I'm on the checkout page for Best Buy, but it keeps giving me an error that I haven't selected a payment option (it defaults to my credit card). And they've disabled chat and phone support for the day due to high volume. Jesus.

Ended up pre-ordering a PS5 when amazon made them available around 10:45pm last night.

Lucky. I tried every site for a couple of hours and no dice. Most just got stuck loading.

Hopefully I’ll randomly find one in stores like I did the Switch.

I tried waiting for both the PS5 and a 3080 and both were gone in 5 seconds.

Did you completely forget about the 360 and PS3 launches?

I like that I'm over here just sad I can't find any RTX 3080s on sale while everyone else is scambling for PS5s.

Honestly not even sure if it's worth it, but I don't want Cyberpunk 2077 to run like molasses. Worried my 5820k would just bottleneck it. Might need to wait for some more in-depth benchmarks or take a smaller upgrade path and wait for the RTX 3070 and do a full rebuild in two years with DDR5 launch.

I was in HS for the 360 launch, mom bought one for double the actual price on eBay and got scammed. Took her over a year to get her money back.

I'm also going to be getting the 3080 eventually. I'm patient on both PS5 and the 3080 so whenever i can get it I'll be happy.

Yeah, I remember going on rounds checking all the different stores with my dad hoping they'd come back in stock. It took at least three months, finally nabbed one at Best Buy and got Oblivion. Was a really, really happy 15 year old.

980 Ti. The 5820k is the type of CPU I have.

Ori and the Will of the Wisps is getting a surprise release on the Switch today. I'm anxious to play it, seeing as Ori and the Blind Forest has straight up been one of the best gaming experiences I've had in years. The game is magic.

Two fantastic games. The soundtrack and ambience might be my favorite for a platformer ever. WotW fixes a lot of minor issues that Blind Forest had. Soooo goooood.

I normally wait a bit (a year or so) on new consoles, but I suspect this winter is going to be very long, and very lonely.

I was also wondering about getting a 3080 this morning, not like I could actually order one with how quickly they were gone. I know a little bit about computers but not enough about the detailed technical specs of a CPU/GPU. I currently have an i7-8700k and I know the 3080 requires at least a 750W power supply, which I have. Will the CPU I have work well with a 3080? I was also a tad worried that my power supply is just the minimum required. I saved my current PC build to a PC Parts Picker list and just subbed out my current GPU and added a 3080 and PC Part Picker found no compatibility issues.

I doubly-can't read. I thought later in your post said you had a 2070 (which I thought was a bold move to upgrade from).

This is what happens when you try to post on a message board while in meetings.
