Admittedly Seattle has a mediocre defense but Newton has looked really good once again. Tough to see how much Patriots defense has really declined since Russell Wilson is in my opinion best qb in football right now and Seattle may have one of its best offenses that they have ever had. But it can't be good to not have Hightower on the team this year. Maybe 1 or 2 more drives stopped with him.

Seattle may have 7 more points and the Patriots 7 less points if it wasn't for a pick 6 than was 100% the fault of a Seattle receiver dropping a ball that was delivered perfectly.

Cam Newton has been like a one man show so far. That offense is piss poor.. Julz should have caught that passand Harry should have got further in with that last catch. Big dude like that and he is awful at getting a few extra yards.. Smh.

He could have caught it for sure but an extremely difficult catch given the circumstances in their entirety. Very little time to setup play for understandable reasons. Edelman had to be exhausted. 179 yards receiving for the game. And Netwon had to absolutely fire it since he had no real choice since if he didn't he risked INT and Edelman didn't have much time as a result. Once Edelman turned around the ball was only a few feet away.

Newton had a fabulous game. Edelman had great game as well. Some of this was made easier since Seattle defense is just average and Seahawks suffered injuries on defense.

Funny with this game, people should know realize it was the correct call for Seattle to not run "Beast mode" at end of Super Bowl when Patriots were setup to stop the run and had all dbs on islands. Most Seattle fans recognize that pass play was the correct call in that situation but Seattle better off with a different type of pass to a different receiver. Newton tougher to stop than Beast Mode at the goal line and Seattle with a great defensive play managed to do it.

Oh I know. It wouldn't have been an easy catch to make and hold on to regardless of context. But it was frustrating to watch the ball zip right through his hands on the replay. So close.

Harry to be fair has shown genuine improvement in his first healthy year. Even as a rookie who got off to slow start after sitting with injury that entire narrative changes a bit if refs didn't rob him off a legitimate touchdown vs Kansas City. That would have been a huge TD. He is obviously relatively slow compared to many receivers but he is a big target and made some tough catches. He even held onto the ball on the play someone led with their head and hit him in the head and tossed out of the game.

Byrd is faster and looked pretty good in this game as well. But thanks to Newon's running, Patriots good offensive line -- having Andrews back and a real fullback helps -- and Seattle having a mediocre defense with guys getting injured/tossed out of the game, all of the receiving yards made easier in game like this.

Patriots offensive weapons could be decent and really fit Newton's strengths well if one of those rookie tight ends develop fast as a receiver but so far nothing which isn't a suprise since supposedly tight end one of the hardest positions to contribute as a rookie. But without a tightend emerging, it may be tough against the top notch defenses.

I'm shocked that if the play was Cam running it in from the 1, why did he take the longer snap at the 6 yard line? You only have to dive 1 yard, even Brady could fall into the end zone. Why make it tougher on yourself and have to run it in 6 yards?

Brady was very good at QB sneaks with New England but he is also successful at them since opponents are thinking there is a good chance there will be a pass play or at least one of the running backs will be running the ball. The nose tackle/defensive lineman/linebackers do not have all of the gaps filled when Brady did most of his sneaks. Brady really only did the QB sneaks when he realized that he had an advantage based upon defense alignment. Everybody watching that game kind of knew it would be a Newton run once the running back moved up and it was just a question of would he get good enough blocking to have a chance. He didn't have a chance on that one. But by lining further back, he also got one more blocker in on the play and had a chance to use his speed/strength more. Maybe an argument can be made to have 3 wideouts and try to spread the defense and then have Newton run to the right but I am sure Seattle practiced against that as well. Despite having played a little football, my knowledge of the game is not good enough to really complain about that play call when it did have a chance of success.

For all of the great qb play tonight, basic stuff like blocking/tackling often wins/loses games. Seattle one the battle on that play and it won them the game.

Tough to lose a game like this but I think if Patriots made the playoffs and Newton is healthy it is a good learning experience for Patriots and if they just have one play, they may want to give Newton some sort of run/pass option.

Very rarely do I think any loss is good but this was a good loss. We showed we can play with one of the best. Cam is back to MVP form. Our D is not nearly as much of a disaster as one might have thought given everyone we've lost, and made some huge plays. In the end we didn't get it done but it was impressive we even had a chance. And to be honest losing keeps Cam and the team hungry. A win here and they might be thinking super bowl contenders, which they're not... yet. Let's see in January. If we keep playing like this we will win the division, Buffalo isn't this good. Plus this team is only going to get better, so long as Cam stays healthy.

James White is one of my favorite Patriots, so sad what happened to his patents and hope his mom is going to be ok.

Raiders are moving the chains...5 first downs already.

Edit: fumble recovery by JC Jackson. He had an INT in week 1 vs Miami.
