No posts in this since April? Let's bump this.

Am I crazy as a Hornets fan to want Hayes as my #3?

I think he's Kris Dunn like with superior PnR abilities. Maybe he's the next Gary Payton but I am not expecting it.

Far from crazy. I think alot of people would take him 3. What I am hoping is once he starts working on his body and gets some NBA training in his athleticism goes up a tick. The skill set is there and will develop more. No question in my mind he is top 5 talent.

I hear he is training with Will Bynum so there are ties between him and Detroit.

There's a tier between Dunn and Hayes as shooting prospects. Very odd comparisons in general.

I see your point in terms of shooting FTs and shooting potential long term but shooting threes, Hayes looks flawed to me. He needs to adjust his jumper. His percentages from 3 isn't just because he loves the stepback. He struggles at getting his shot off in general and it will only get harder in the NBA. Dunn didn't have that issue, he just wasn't a good shooter with much shooting potential so I can see your point but I don't think my comparison is that odd. The PnR passing should translate. Stockton was also one hand dominate passer.

Deron williams was a slick high volume 3 pt shooter in college, that was a major part of his appeal. He’s a totally different prospect if he doesn’t have that as a sure thing.

I would be totally fine with my wolves taking him N1 overall. Much safer prospect than either Ball or Edwards.

He also seems much more unselfish and me-centric than those guys. Alot less diva potential, which really does come into play when a smaller franchise like MIN is drafting (And I say this as a Portland fan, with the same reservations on big light guys like Ball and Edwards).

After listening to the Prep2Pro episodes that focused on Killian Hayes, I have to say that I'm now significantly lower on Hayes. I think there's a pretty good chance that his defense is better than his offense in year 3 in the NBA. He doesn't have any rhythm on his shot unless he's going left to right for a OTD shot. Unless he significantly improves his rhythm and footwork as well as improves his right hand dramatically, his offensive game has a fairly low ceiling.

I hope you guys don't take him, because I want him as the Bulls pick.
I really believe in his shot going forward. Along with his P&R abilities and underrated defense, I think he'll be a very valuable piece.
Constantly underwhelmed by the Bulls.

I really want Hayes. Charlotte is rumored to really like an international prospect. I think Hayes can be a lead guard/alpha dog and would play very well with Graham. Like a souped up SGA.

What am I missing in why Hayes isn't the #1 pick in the draft.

The only thing he is lacking is right hand driving? Is that really that big a problem and can't be fixed?
