Re: TPE/MLE/Draft
It's perfect because a free agent signing with GSW isn't considered ring chasing for an "easy ring" anymore. They're joining the "worst team in the West" with an "older Steph Curry who's nothing without KD."
So many people talking about the Lakers right now, it's like the Warriors are a sleeping giant. I think more veteran free agents are willing to sign with GSW than before because it's not that obvious of a ring chase nowadays since the Warriors dynasty is apparently over.

I doubt there’s a single person alive on this planet that actually thinks this. Everybody knows the Warriors are in a gap year.

General Board, man. Maybe they know it deep down inside, but wanna talk crap while they can after seeing GSW in the Finals 5 straight years.
They just love to say the Warriors dynasty is over. The 2015 Championship was a fluke because of Kyrie and Love’s injuries and the 17 & 18 rings were only because of KD, and now that KD’s gone, “No Finals MVP” Steph will never win again unless it’s another asterisk ring when he’s played against injured teams.
That’s their whole narrative, and it piled on while they laugh at GSW while they’re down. Only a few posters on the GB admit it’s a gap year and GSW is still a threat.
Funny, though. If Warriors sign some impact free agents to add depth, the narrative will change to “oHh diS guy is a RiNg ChAsER!!!” from the same people who said the dynasty was dead.
Similar to how people say Draymond is overrated, but those same people were the ones saying GSW was unfair because they had 4 All-Stars. They can’t make up their mind.

Re: TPE/MLE/Draft
Yeah people on the GB have determined Curry is done as a top 5 player and it’s evident because he started out this season slow without KD and Klay. 5 game sample size after 5 finals where he was trying to get a new guy involved is much more accurate than his playoffs. The team starting slow means we’re behind teams like the Mavs despite most of this squad sweeping the Blazers and playing the Raps tough.
I do think we may not be a top seed because Klay could start slow since he’ll have swelling which can slow a guy down. But after All Star Break will come alive and no one will want to play us in the playoffs. Also I think our guys love needing to get road wins in the playoffs and just silence opposing crowds (if that’s a thing next season). But we’ll have one of the best top duos in the league that can be game breakers and Dray will definitely be motivated and rested. What we do in the off-season will help determine a lot as I think we need shooting and an improved defense but we’ll be one of the top contenders next year if healthy. I think the burnout and mental blow with Klay and KD lost doomed us last season but with lots of rest and motivation we’re in a really good position. And I don’t see any powerhouse I don’t think we could defeat. Lakers are very good but Lebron will be a year older, Kawhi is always a question for the Clip and Nugs are good but I don’t see some powerhouse. Miami getting a star FA and Boston’s ability to improve with the growth of their young guys are the biggest candidates to maybe step up to a tier of their own.

When I tore my ACL and played lacrosse the leg was strong from building up the muscles to put less pressure on the ligaments but the knee always felt a little stiff and swollen, especially when doing lots of side to side motions. Two thirds of the way through the season we had a week off and when things started back up, I felt much better and the following season too but the every day work on it came with some swelling and just feeling stiff. My experience but it is rather common obstacle to returning 100% the first season

Re: TPE/MLE/Draft
I had an ACL too.
Fortunately little swelling during rehab and about a year out.
I remember I would do leg presses with the one leg and did pretty well with it. Another person was rehabbing an arthroscope where they trimmed some meniscus cartilage but obviously didn't open up the knee like they would with an ACL.
He struggled with it.
So YMMV.
I have had it swell un years afterwards but it was maybe once a year or so.
Hopefully Klay is doing well. These guys are in great condition to begin with and assuming he wasn't slacking off, if he worked hard he'd be fine.
Assuming he plays in January, it will have been 19 months or so since his injury. So I would be optimistic but I've heard that he's been rehabbing away from the team so maybe they will get him to show up before training camp, for evaluation.
Or if he's been following up with his doctors and therapists, the team should be getting those reports.

Klay and Paschall were in Covid protocol today. They should be full go for tomorrow.
Klay is playing for sure this season. Not even a question really.
They have been monitoring him closely. Barbosa is working with him.

Neither. But I also didn’t have to play at the high speeds that put extra stress on my ligaments and play 3-4 games a week. And it’s pretty common for many of these world class athletes to not be back at the top of their game the first season back from a major knee injury and take 18 months for a full recovery.
Klay will be about 18 months removed but I’m gonna temper my expectations of him being full strength iron man who grinds on both ends for a full season right away

Not sure if this is realistic but would you guys be interested in trading Capela for the TPE and switching picks with Atlanta to make it worth their while? Atlanta has the 6th pick.

I believe this team is entirely realistic if the FO is willing to spend and will have a 98% chance to win the Championship. The 2% occurs from freak injuries. Good depth and young talent to groom. We also do not have to use TPE and could wait for a Rudy Gay buyout
Not seen any suggestion as realistic or better than this scenario.

TPE ($17.1 mil): Ricky Rubio
MLE ($6 mil): Paul Milsap or Marcus Morris
Draft (#10): Patrick Williams
**Trade Poole + two 2nd rounders for late 1st round / early 2nd round pick and draft Desmond Banes**
GOOD
-We get our starting SF in Oubre (And sign him to a more reasonable/attractive contract after next season, if possible. Otherwise, Obure walks and we still got our next starting SF in Patrick Williams.)
-TPE ($17.1 mil): Get a serviceable, defensive, and natural passer in Rubio who can help with ball-handling duties and guard the teams' best player or guard positions
-Get their 2020 #10 draft pick and draft Patrick Williams or Saddiq Bey
BAD
-Get rid of Pachall and his potential
-Our future draft picks
DEPTH
Curry/Rubio/Poole
Thompson/Bane/Lee
Oubre/P.Williams/Tuscano
Green/Milsap/SCRUB
Looney/Chriss/Smiley
OVERALL
No Allstar or Superstar on this team, but this team is stacked and well-balanced at each position. Ya'll can't argue/complain with this one. Gave up Wiggins but, in the process, also gave up a bit in the process. It's called sacrifice and compensation.

I'm trying to understand. You're using the Trade Exception on Rubio? Why not just do a straight trade, since the salaries match, and keep the exception?
