Biden didn't make any real mistakes and there were several key moments where he did thump Trump with a solid punch (you can always tell when by Trump's silence and the little hurt boy face he gets when he's nailed).
I was watching NBC with Stephanopolous doing the pundit round table afterwards and some of these media talking heads are straight up stupid. Chris Christie was flat out imbecilic. It seems a number of them are operating under the assumption anyone else would come out of this looking perfect after being yelled at by a looney tune like Trump. Biden was fine and he held his ground and he got in the talking points about the lives lost, the disrespect of the military and the racism.
Joe ended very strongly IMO with a very clean and direct appeal to voters to trust the process and to get out to vote. It was very well spoken and contrasted sharply with the Q Anon level conspiratorial insanity Trump spewed about a corrupt election. Joe closed well. Trump flamed out.
Yeah here’s the thing about Biden. You can’t watch that and claim that the dude is Senile or has dementia. His problem is that he has a mush mouth and he’s not a strong speaker. The biggest thing Biden needs to convince people is that he’ll put a competent cabinet around him. Like someone said Trump did nothing tonight to close a 6 point deficit. If you’re undecided, THIS performance won’t convince you. Glad Biden didn’t take the bait on the Hunter Biden bull.
I kind of wished it was me in Biden's place. I'd shut that troll down like nobody's business. That said, I think Joe was OK with several highlights that made me clap, but overall it was dominated by Trump's grotesqueness. Joe is not a world beating public speaker, but I still admire his ability to handle the situation as well as he did. The stutter came through once, but I never got the vibe that he was intimidated or fearful which really may be more important than how articulate he is overall.

And, yes, if anyone still goes on about Biden being senile then they are just hopeless losers who don't deserve a response

I heard the debate is basically Chris Wallace vs Trump, how is Chris' performance actually?
Are you fans of the team or the player?

That's it basically.
Joe was actually most effective when he didn't try to interject during Trump's two minute allotments. Just stand there looking coherent while letting that guy ramble on with his word salad.
That's the thing about Trump. If he speaks for more ten seconds he's just a disconnected mess of unfinished tangents. His Trump idolizers worship the Trump who interrupts and makes dumb insults, because that short and pithy child warfare is really all Trump is capable of cognitively. Anything of length and he goes nowhere fast

We can dissect Joe's performance all we want but it's irrelevant. These debates are irrelevant. Joe could've taken a nap for the entire evening and I'd still be voting for him come 11/3.

I'll be very overjoyed when NYS and the Manhattan DA both indict this POS and lock him up for good

It's basically the same polling numbers as the election as a whole.
People already have their minds made up. This debate did nothing to change the state of play.
By default, that means Biden won, since he's leading.

I was expecting Chris Wallace to do a much better job controlling the floor. He was horrible in that regard. He was treated like a substitute teacher to a 4th grade class (aka Trump).
There has to be a better way. But them in sound controlled booths or pods and when one candidate is answering a question the other candidate's mic is turned off or can be turned off if he/she gets out of line. Who didn't expect Trump to do just this? Just mess up the board game. Trump hurt himself too with all of the interrupting and slanderous language and lies, of course. If he had been more subtle about it, perhaps he could've done a better job. But he came off as boorish and Joe, if nothing else, came off as a good guy.

we have the technology why can't they mute someones mic when it isn't there turn? It doesnt help anyone when they were bickering back and forth.

That's you though.
Of course they're relevant. Any movement of even two points is relevant. There is a comfy notion bandied about that debates change nothing, but that is an unprovable statement regardless of historical averages before and after these events.
In this case, they are important because there is really only one person who can make a big gain from these debates which is Trump. We've seen 40% as the GOP ground zero. Trump needs to eat into Biden's support now, NOT the other way around.
So both Biden and Trump could lose support from these debates, but only Trump is required to have a resounding victory in the debates. And he did terribly while Joe did not embarass himself at all.
All of the statistical horse betting in the world can't foretell that. I suspected it would be precisely this, but it had to happen to confirm my expectation that Trump would go too far while saying little.
So these debates did matter because if they remain on the same frequency as the first one it cements Joe's lead and wipes out any opportunity for Trump to make up the distance. If the margins don't change, it doesn't mean the debates were of no consequence. What it means is they confirmed the pre-existing assumptions of voters and that serves a function, especially in this election.

Read something from Hannah Arendt once, about how dictators don't want to give up power cause they're afraid of what's coming for them when they lose it. And yea, I think Trump is afraid.

This election has all along been a referendum on Trump's first term as President, as it usually is for any first term POTUS. I can't imagine anyhow still unsure of how they feel about him with the election less than 40 days away.
We'll be able to find out when we see the polling numbers the next few days.

The biggest puzzie in the world is a guy who needs to pose with a gun to prove their point. It doesn't mean they might not go bonkers and shoot you dead, but then they'd be an even bigger puzzie.
That said, we'll need election laws to prevent gun display at the polls in the future similar to the ban on campaigning past a certain point at polling places.

He should be. He never really wanted the job, just the potential enrichment that comes with being a nominee for POTUS. Now, we know why.

I read that the only book ever seen on Trump's night stand was a collection of Mussolini's speeches
No dictator's fate was more graphic than when the paisans hung Mussolini upside down in the public square. There's even speculation that his public humiliation spurred on Hitler to commit suicide rather than face such an ending.
Trump is going to prison. That will do. I'd like him to suffer.
