And Joel drops his thoughts right before the announcement, lol:

Edit: apparently it's a Drake reference

Second Edit: The Drake song, "Successful" is from 2009, but was likely created in 2008. 2008 is when the Celtics SUCCESSFULly won the championship with Doc Rivers as the head coach. Of course, this is Joel's ringing endorsement of the hire.

It's fine. I can't say I loved or hated any of the known candidates so wasn't going to have a hot take regardless. But I'm also of the opinion that at the end of the day, the team with the best players wins 9 out of 10 times.

Twitter sources now confirming exactly what fl311 was telling us last week. Ownership wanted MdA, EB wanted Lue, ownership was going to overrule EB (freaking great), but they came to the same conclusion that Rivers works for both "sides".

Why does the GM have to be against ownership? Why is ownership even involved??? Screw this franchise man...

I'm hesitantly excited with Doc. Fix the freaking roster and let's go!

This is the best we could hope for. Better than MDA and Lue

They fired BB over one month ago and definitely put in some time and effort to speak with/investigate some of the best candidates out there.

When Rivers became available, I liked him most despite some recent shortcomings. With the amount of talent on the team and a little retooling, his presence could really help out.

Not really a difference maker. As always in the Nba, how well a team does is much more on the FO than on the coach

Really?

I think he has a history of underachieving with good players.

Both. But we're more on the underachievers side than on the good players one.

Never going to win anything so long as Harris is so involved in the decision making. Its pretty clear he doesn't know about or care about basketball. He just wants to "win" newspaper headlines.

Of what's available, I see him as the best fit for this team.

I look forward to seeing if he will make Ben shoot a jumper, if so, it was a successful hire.
