I'm not watching that garbage. I dropped off my mail in ballot this morning. The solution here is simple.

I'm very interested to see how this series unfolds. Vegas and ESPN heavily lean toward the Lakers, while other statistics models favor the Heat. I actually think that the Heat have played a purer brand of basketball, and have juiced more out of their potential than any team in recent memory. Still, I hope LA wins. I'm guessing Lakers in 6 also.

Let me just say, I was thinking of doing a H2H breakdown post. But honestly, these teams scheme and switch in such a sophisticated manner, and vary their starting lineups so much, it's kinda pointless.

I will say that Caruso's defense will be important against Dragic, as will Jae's against LA's complementary bigmen. Miami will deploy Iggy and others to cool Lebron, and of course Bam will shadow AD. Do the Lakers have a dedicated Jimmy-stopper? I hesitate to use Green the, because he will need to track their shooters, Herro and Robinson. So maybe it'll be the old man LBJ, taking on the biggest assignment on both ends. In this way at his age, if they win, it may be his most impressive ring.

Dragic out for the series. Bam hurt. Jimmy hurt. They had maybe a 30/70 shot to begin with, this is a wrap now. I'd be shocked if it went more than 5. Hate to see it.

Yep, game over for the Heat. Did you bet the series?

Threw $75 on the Heat at +310. Oh well haha. I should have bet the series straight Lakers to win exact 4 games and 5 games. I forget the exact odds on those, but any of the series exact game bets were heavy + odds no matter who you took to win.

I feel bad for the Heat. They're a hell of a feel-good interesting story, and a great team.

Still, I'm in awe of LeBron James doing all this at age 35, and resent the fact that the number of times he dragged broken, inadequate teams to the finals is somehow used against him. On the contrary, what he accomplished with two downright-awful Cavs teams, plus another one missing its costars (Love & Kyrie) should moreso be a case of adding to his legend. Not to mention, in two of those three clusterfluff seasons, he had to face arguably the greatest dynasty in NBA history, i.e. the Currified Warriors.

Also some annoyance by those eager to call this an "asterisk" season. On the contrary, making it all the way to the end of this season deserves a special badge for perseverance IMO.

Btw, I really liked this article talking about how special James is, as seen through the eyes of his big man teammates.

One never knows, though. Like... if LeBron or AD goes down for some reason, is this series still a 'lock?' (stranger things have happened)

I honestly thought about it too. I was going to take Heat in 6 and Lakers in 5. Heat in 6 was heavy, like +1600 Iirc. Lakers in 5 was around +1100 too, I can't remember exactly.

This is going to be a sweep though, unless the Lakers get bored and lazy and Butler goes off the same game.

No Bam and No Dragic is a deathblow. if Jimmy has to score 40+ points in a game the Heat are in serious trouble.

Wow, you made it happen! :o

Actually I just read that Butler almost set the all-time playoff record for most combined points made and assisted. I think he had 73 tonight, but someone had 74 once?

Just as a bball fan though, I'm glad the Heat stood up and made this a series. And if disaster happens, and somehow the Heat come back and win, at least there'll be the consolation prize of all the outraged, depressed Lakers fans. :P

Indeed, it's really kind of amazing the amount of momentum this series represents for LeBron and the Lake Show. Win it, and one could see more chips to follow, with LeBron pretty well dispelling all doubts about his GOAThood in the next couple years. Lose it, and I could also see maybe another groin injury next season, or his athleticism finally starting to fade... with the team unable to really improve its roster... and the ride being over before it began. And of course have LeBron's detractors gleefully jumping all over another finals loss.

I hope he makes it, though. It's always cool to see great players crushing it before one's eyes, just like I got to see most of Jordan's run, too.

LeBron will definitely win it.

Davis disqualified himself after his terrible Game 3.

I’m absolutely apologize for crapping on the idea of a Kyrie/Butler duo if we never landed KD.

This man has risen to basketball god tier levels.
