Hot topic of discussion I've had with friends over the years though. Are Skittles/starburst all the same but just different colors? If you blindfold and plug your nose you won't be able to tell. My belief is they are all the same, however the different food colorings have a different smell which affects how you eat them. So the detente conclusion we'd get to is they have the same "taste", however due to the food coloring and smell it does technically make them different "flavors"

I'm more on board with this theory for skittles, starbursts have different tastes.

I also just dump the bag of skittles into my mouth so wtf do I know? From the time's I've eaten them Individually, the fruit flavor is much less distinct. Perhaps because it is just coming from our smell.
