I have to admit the warriors have been a hot ticket and not necessarily real fans are able to consistently afford or even find seats just like any other succesful big market. LA had bron and AD plus been a top seeded team all year the bandwagon is plenty big for both teams and thats just how it goes with success. The thing with LA is that they are the biggest market and one of the most storied. I see a lot of passionate lakers fans out there and in this forum but they will always have the most or one of the most in terms of bandwagon fans.

So, I created Postseason Strength of Schedule Score (PSSS) for title teams since 1984.

For each championship team, I multiplied the margin of their top opponent by four, the margin of their second-best opponent by three, the margin of their third-best opponent by two and the margin of their worst opponent by one then added the totals. (There is room to quibble with the ratios. I chose this for simplicity.)

The higher the PSSS, the more difficult the schedule.

The 2020 Lakers would have the lowest PSSS (23.7), narrowly behind the 1987 Lakers (23.9) but way below everyone else.

What I wanted to emphasize is that it's great to win a title after goint through dark times, and I know other teams have gone and are going through longer tough periods. But stop the big market bs. Look at the Knicks, and look at us in the summer of 2016. It took some good management and going at 12 am to LeBron's house to get to this again. It took finding players like Caruso and Kuzma that are good role players. It took great late drafting. It took giving Dwight a second chance when nobody even wanted to give him a try. It took trading your young core and risk the future for another 10 years by trading for AD on an expiring hoping things would work out this time around after 2013. That's how you build something to win. And it took Jeanie Buss to clear out the mess her brother piled to create this small dynasty.

We'll never know but it would have been tougher for sure. Just from the eye test of their path, you knew it was easy and this methodology from NBC ( although rough) more or less confirms. Conversely Heat would have had the hardest path. Unusual.

You moved from your position of "paper Lakers" meaning they were a paper tiger to we'll never know. A little more work might have you at, "Yeah, my bad, I was wrong".
