I know the NBA is a superstar driven league... but there seems to be a bunch of players masquerading as LeGM. For better or worse, star players whining until they get their way seems to be here to stay.

Correct
Tillman Fertitta is the current Herb Kohl
He wanted Melo. He wanted Westbrook.
and he is strapped for cash since he bought the team and has little liquidity
Not a great time to be a Rockets fan
Would bring him in as the POBO as another suggested, or if Horst isn't cool with that, he can move on and Morey can be GM and POBO
Not sure Horst has the acumen or league connections to pull off what needs to be done this offseason

Wonder if this is the beginning of Morey getting blackballed for his China comments last year, NBA lost a lot of money from that and are now even more cash strapped because of this pandemic. The NBA only returned to China in the last couple games of the finals I believe so this is barely a week later.

Not a good hire.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

This was my thought as well. As soon as he made those comments, he dug his own grave in Houston.

Almost forgot about that. That's a good point and I could see it happen. Seems like not that long ago both Morey and Hinkie were looked upon so fondly and now they'll both probably be blackballed from the league.

Lot of folks like Lue. He's gotten a lot of credit for the Cavs offense in the playoffs. Interesting to see how he goes with improving that Clippers team.

Ron Swanson wrote:Morey had a good run and it's not like I think he's a dolt, but those last 2 off-seasons in Houston were an absolute GM travesty. A superstar on the wrong side of 30 whose prime years may already be wasted, traded or swapped 4 of their next 5 first round picks, basically zero young player assets outside of House, and two aging, albatross contracts in Westbrook and Gordon. What a mess.
House is 26, and should never be better than the 6th best guy on a good team.

Will be interesting to see how Morey’s Houston legacy is judged. It’s not super impressive: two WCFs in 13 years. But it’s not bad either.
The Harden and CP3 acquisitions were very good but equally tempered by some bad mistakes in Dwight and Westbrook.
His threes and layups revolution never quite made it. Seems NBA basketball is a bit more complex.

Don't worry, I grew up and lived in Baraboo about 21 of my 34 years alive and didn't know it until a few years ago.wallus wrote:Krispy Kreme wrote:Fire Horst. Bring home Baraboo's prodigal son!

If the Lasry’s can’t get Giannis to sign an extension and he bolts, we’re going to need Morey as GM.

Same guy he paired CP3 with Harden. Could have won it all , if CP3 stayed healthy.
Plus, he drafted Hartenstein at #43. He has a good talent evaluation and he is always active from signing players like Wiltzer on multiyear year team rookie contracts with Team Options. On the other hand he is actually aggressive to get superstars on his team.
You hire him without a doubt.
Draft picks: '15 Jerian Grant, '16 Thon Maker, '17 Isaiah Hartenstein/*John Collins, '18 TD Devonte Graham, Hamidou Diallo, '20 Sam Merrill, Killian Tillie, '21 Joe Wieskamp, '22 TU C.Braun/G.Procida '23 Tristan Vukcevic/Maxwell Lewis

Lol. Using the fact that he drafted Hartenstein as a reason he has a good eye for talent isn't really a ringing endorsement.

I don't know how Morey handles last offseason or if it puts us in a better/worse position than we are now, but I do know that if he trades Brogdon to Indiana like Horst did, it's not without a large TPE coming back. He's a guy who knows the value of assets of all kinds and doesn't waste them (despite what the results may be).

I've seen some folks mention widening the court and moving the line back, I'm all for it.
