I normally wouldn't believe any of this Morey stuff, but I can't help but think why would Rivers accept the job reporting to Brand? He has the leverage to ask for some other type of arrangement but as far as we know from reports this is a conventional GM/HC org structure. It doesn't pass the eye test. If Morey is onboard it makes a lot more sense.

Tilman the kind of guy who would try to hold us up over whatever remains of Morey's contract.

I am not even going to allow myself to think that Morey is going to end up here. I'm just going to be happy that Doc is here and that Ben is bulking up...which will help his shot.
The Accession of Paul Reed is upon us !

You want it to be one way....but it's the other way.

Think there's any chance in hell we land Morey?

I’ve heard conflicting information on whether he wants another NBA job right now.

They have already reached out to him but haven’t heard any more details

Eagerly awaiting an update from you saying that the two sides are communicating and it could happen

Elton's dumb comment about "more basketball people" was a prelude to scapegoating all the competent folks in the FO.

Okay. So was it not Morey that created the theory that all shots should be 3s or layups? Didn't have the foresite to not basically promise Chris Paul this contract before he got there. Then basically bankrupt them for Russell and lose the trade? Trade a near all star center for Covington? Then runaway when his mess has them at the end?

Besides all that, would Rivers really want to work for him considering he's been a team President too?

Don't see it happening

This was probably he worst move tbh. Going small worked in the regular season. But the playoffs are a different beast. I find it laughable that he ruined their future basically and ran because the job was getting harder and harder.

How do you guys feel about Doc being hired? Also any ideas on who he's going to fill his staff with?

Seems like Harden wanted Paul out and Westbrook in.

Lot of the recent questionable moves/why he wanted out make a lot more sense when you consider that Fertitta (who bought the team post Paul trade) was refusing to pay the tax and Morey was making trades that were at least partially for the purpose of getting them under. Like for example Covington is cheaper than capella, probably the better player in a vacuum and it’s easier to find a starting center cheap in the free agent market than an elite 3&d forward. It was a thinking ahead move since it wasn’t like the rockets were winning anything before that trade. Thinking ahead is good.

Anyway they still won a playoff round this year and has had a bunch of success including two years ago had an awesome team that was up 3-2 on the warriors before Paul getting hurt and so it seems like he knows what he’s doing.

The Rockets had a 61.5 win percentage under Morey since 07-08, which I believe is the 2nd best record over that span behind San Antonio. I'd say he knows what he's doing.

The Westbrook move was apparently a Tilman production.

His last few moves have been the worst moves of his career and it isn't a coincidence that they occurred after the change in ownership. Bad ownership can torpedo a good thing as no one around this forum or the city of Philadelphia has any first hand familiarity with.
They say an analytics man doesn't have a heart, but I ran the numbers and nothing can be further from the truth - Sam Hinkie probably

Could you imagine being the next coach of the Rockets and asking Harden to maybe not take 13 threes a game, half of those being stepback 30 footers? Rockets are in for an interesting future.

Hoping they hired JVG who implements all the nonsense he’s been saying on TV for years and they wonder why they aren’t top 6 in offense anymore like they were every year under Dantoni.

Either Morey is playing extreme hardball or he is actually serious about taking time off.

From what i have heard, he has not given any indication that he wants another job right now
