Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions - OFF SEASON EDITION
MIL get: DeMar DeRozan
SAS get: Eric Bledsoe, DJ Wilson, Robin Lopez
Hill, DeMar, Middleton, Giannis, BroLo
10m NTMLE (PG), DDV, Matthews, Korver, Ersan, 4m BAE (C)
I believe DeMar is the right player for the Bucks if put in the SG role he had with Raptors. The reason is because DeMar is one of the best (if not the best) halfcourt isolation players in the league and one of the main problems with Giannis and Bledsoe pairing is that their offensive games are too similar and negated together in the half-court heavy playoffs. You lose a little defensively but gain for more on offense.

Re: Bucks News, Trade Ideas, Transactions - OFF SEASON EDITION
If someone wants to throw around trade details. What can we do to make this happen?
Bucks in: Oladipo and Bogdanovic
Bucks out: Bucks 1st, Future 1st? Bledsoe, Ersan and Wilson
PG: Hill............DDV................Mason III
SG: Oladipo.......Bogdanovic.......Brown
SF: Middleton.....Matthews........Conny
PF: Giannis........X..................Thanisis
C: Lopez...........Lopez.............X
Get us 2 more bigs on minimum and this team is better than last year.

raferfenix wrote:Bledsoe’s poor performance vs the Raptors last year likely won’t endear him to the Pacers’ new coach, however, his locked in salary and health the past few seasons might be enticing as opposed to a disgruntled Oladipo chasing a huge contract.
Let’s say we could get Dipo just for Bledsoe and #24, our roster could look like:
PG: George Hill
SG: Oladipo, Donte
SF: Middleton, Thanasis
PF: Giannis, Ersan (if we enact his team option)
C: BroLo, RoLo (if he enacts his player option)
We’d need help in the backcourt and at backup SF even if we bring back Wes and / or Pat.
Ersan most likely is out due to cap reasons...but if we can’t bring in an upgrade maybe we keep him to go for it.
Either way we’d need some savvy signings to fill out the roster.
If Donte is ready to step in to a big role we should be good. If he’s not though and / or if Hill is cooked then losing Bledsoe could hurt a lot more than we wish it would.
Hill is getting older and only a 20 mpg guy. He's a starter in title only in that scenario.

How many years to go when we shed him finally?

Saw that too.
Leuer has ~$3.2M dead money on the books for next season. Would be tight to get that cleared and waive Ersan to get ~$10.2M in total off the ledger.
We need Ersan's 7M for trade more than we need him to fall off the cap number.

Maybe. Depends on the type of deal we do. Making a trade without sacrificing the MLE should be the goal.

Unless you expect all available opportunities to explicitly present themselves during the draft, and I don't think you do, you gotta keep him.

Of course not. I just think a laid-out game plan heading in is important. If we want to pursue expensive trade targets like Paul/Conley/etc, then you have to have a matching plan for those types of deals, considering repercussions such as forfeiting the non-taxpayer MLE. I think it *might* be wise to just waive Ersan's non-guaranteed salary, hopefully in addition to Leuer relief (not holding my breath), and then working with what you've got for matching purposes. I can see the other side of the coin though, if pursuit of expensive targets is the plan, paired with an unwillingness to involve the likes of Hill or even Brook in such a deal.
I admittedly assume that Robin opts in, which may not be the case. He'd be nuts to turn down $5M at this stage, but there is a universe where that could happen in tandem with waiving Ersan, which would leave us with no real matching flexibility.

Yeah, five million dollar Robin Lopez player option looking really bonkers right now. Lot to pay for a zany mascot dynamic.

Dipo is a guy in a contract year angling for a max contract, who when “on” is a really good fit. Chances are he’ll bust his balls this year.
Obviously depends on medicals, but If you give up minimal value (DDV or 24th pick + expiring deal) you have to go for it.

At least this brother was a NBA quality player at some point.
I missed it. Why does Jon Leuer's money come off the books? Is this one of those things were, yes, its nice to remove that but probably helps other teams more who have larger contracts to remove and more flexibility to use that space?

Wolves want a win-now PG and are dangling their 1st rd picks, wonder if we could get them involved as a third team to take Bledsoe for their 17th pick? Turner or Johnson could be the player they reroute to another team, both shorter contracts than Bledsoe.

Bledsoe for the 17th sounds fine in a vacuum. Clear his salary, get a young guy in here. But for the next offseason (maybe two), I'm doing whatever Giannis wants if it gets him to sign. I think trading contributors for picks makes it less likely he's here longterm.
