Pretty impressive resume. Sounds like she's been in the mix for a GM position for a while now.

I don't know much about baseball, but still it's pretty cool. All the best for her!

Good for her. I know nothing about baseball though.

I think this could easily happen in the NBA, but turnover on GMs isn't that high. Maybe like two spots open up every year?

Instead of being congratulated for being the most qualified and fit for the job, she'll simply be commended for beingthe first woman in that position.

she has faced abuse before:

https://www.espn.com/mlb/news/story?id=1662212

Singer made the comments to Dodgers assistant general manager Kim Ng at a hotel bar in Arizona on Tuesday night, prompting Yankees general manager Brian Cashman -- Ng's former boss -- to step in, sources familiar with the conversation told the Daily
News. The Los Angeles Times also reported that Singer confronted
Ng, citing unnamed baseball officials who were present.

After the incident, Singer met privately with Mets general manager Jim Duquette and claimed that he had been on a low-carbohydrate diet, which caused him to suffer a chemical imbalance in conjunction with consuming alcohol, the Daily News reported.

"That didn't wash with Jim and it sure as hell won't wash with [owner] Fred [Wilpon]," a Mets source told the Daily News. "Plain and simple, there's no excuse for that kind of behavior, and there's no saving this g

congrats to Kim...shes been in the business for a long time and I cant believe its taken this long to get a gig. Im sure Jeter being Yankee, Ng working for yankees in the past had to do it with it

First of all, I think anytime the person who is most qualified for the job, gets the job, that is a great thing. Sex, color, nationality... should have no bearing in who gets a job - if you are the most qualified, you deserve it. So major congrats to Kim Ng!!!
As to when I think a woman will get an NBA GM, I think i'ts going to be a while. I have no doubt that there are some highly qualified women out there, who could easily deserve the job as a GM, but it just seems that there are so few opportunities that are going to be availabe for such a position anytime soon, that most likely any future GM spots will go to those who are better known in the game (this of course being men who have been around the game the longest). Again, if a woman proves herself as the best candidate for a GM spot, I would loves to see a team choose her, but I really don't see it happening anytime soon. But, hey you never really do know, a team could very well surprise us.

Didn't get past the first page before the "joking stereotypes" / misogyny showed up.

Be better.

Lets be honest with that resume she should have been hired earlier than this :noway: but this is good to hear. Always tougher when you are basically a pioneer.
